Are you highly organized, resourceful, and curious about travel, culture, and the outdoors? Do you know how to navigate the real information channels in the Philippines, including
I am a veteran IT professional preparing for an intensive 8-month solo motorcycle and hiking expedition across 21 major islands in the Philippines for my YouTube project, Stoic Solo Hiker.
This journey will cover rugged mountains, provincial routes, ferry crossings, local festivals, wellness tracking, live music, cultural experiences, and authentic day-to-day Filipino life. I am building a support system that allows me to stay focused on the road, the hikes, and the story. To do that, I need a reliable, sharp, and independent assistant to help with logistics, travel coordination, and cultural research.
Please note: this is not a video editing or simple data-entry job. This role is a professional collaboration built on trust, independent thinking, and clear communication. You will not be following a rigid checklist. You will help gather information, confirm details, identify risks, and recommend practical solutions in a real-world travel environment.
A lot of important safety, transit, hiking, and event information in the Philippines does not appear on official websites. It often lives inside
Main Responsibilities:
Adventure & Hiking Coordination
You will not be planning major hikes from scratch. For the most serious mountains, I expect to work with experienced hike organizers and local guides. Your role will be to help coordinate with those organizers, manage communication, confirm details, and keep the logistics clear while my days are busy on the road.
Permit Management & Clear Directions
Research and organize permit requirements for treks, waterfalls, protected areas, and cultural sites. When possible, help coordinate with local authorities to pull permits ahead of time to reduce friction, or provide step-by-step instructions on what office I need to visit and what documents or fees are required.
Transit, Ferry & Drone Research
Message or call tourism offices, LGUs, local guides, ferry/Ro-Ro operators, and lodging providers to confirm schedules, availability, restrictions, and local conditions. For drone use, help identify local rules, restrictions, contacts, and red flags before I make the final decision to fly.
Destination Briefs
Create simple, clear destination briefs before I arrive. These should include how to get there, where to stay, who to contact, permits needed, estimated costs, risks, backup options, and what still needs confirmation.
Music & Nightlife Scouting
Research local music venues and events tailored to my interests, including Filipino hip-hop, local jazz, authentic OPM, live bands, and cultural performances.
Wellness & Fitness Sourcing
Map out quality local gyms along the route and help source authentic traditional Hilot massage providers for recovery after difficult hikes.
Cinematic & Cultural Scouting
Find strong sunrise/sunset viewpoints, overlooked local places, and off-the-beaten-path locations that could elevate the storytelling. On recovery days, help find interactive cultural experiences such as traditional cooking classes, regional food experiences, or local dance workshops such as Tinikling.
Language & Cultural Support
Provide conversational practice in Filipino/Tagalog and basic Bisaya during regular alignment calls in the preparation phase.
What I Am Looking For:
Excellent English and Tagalog are required.
Bisaya/Cebuano fluency is a strong advantage, but not mandatory if you are excellent at finding and communicating with reliable regional contacts.
You are skilled at using
You never guess. You confirm.
You are comfortable messaging or calling strangers, local offices, venues, operators, tourism offices, ferry companies, guides, and organizers politely and professionally.
You are independent, detail-oriented, calm when plans change, and genuinely interested in showing the real Philippines, not just standard tourist spots.
Experience with hiking, mountaineering, tourism, event research, cultural research, or extensive provincial travel is highly preferred.
This Role Is NOT For You If:
You disappear or go silent without updates.
You guess or assume information instead of confirming it.
You prefer passive, repetitive copy-paste tasks.
You need every small step micromanaged.
You are uncomfortable using
