JOB OVERVIEW

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced tax accountant with a strong background in Australian taxation and proficiency in Xero. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience in Australian tax and accounting and will be responsible for preparing financial statements and tax returns for various entity types, including companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals and SMSFs.
• Ensure compliance with Australian tax laws, including income tax, GST, and BAS reporting.
• Reconcile accounts and manage general ledger entries.
• Work with Xero & BGLSF360 (optional) to process transactions, maintain records, and generate reports.
• Assist in tax planning strategies and provide general tax advice as required.
• Communicate with the team to ensure deadlines and client expectations are met.
• Looking at implementing and providing Advisory information to the Director
• Assist the Director with initial reviews of financial statements, tax returns, and supporting workpapers.
• Identify basic errors, inconsistencies, and missing information prior to final review.
• Support the team by helping improve accuracy and completeness of work before submission to the Director.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in Australian tax and accounting.
• Strong English literacy and speaking skills
• Proficiency in Xero & BGLSF360 (negotiable) and cloud-based accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, including company tax, trust distributions, BAS, IAS, and GST.
• Experience preparing tax returns and financial statements for various entity structures.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage workloads efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
