YouTube Shorts Editor (Descript / Riverside) — Talking Head Content

OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a skilled video editor to produce clean, high-quality YouTube Shorts from talking-head footage.

This is gig-based work, starting with a paid test project:
+ You’ll be given a layered Descript project (2–3 min short)
+ Your job is to improve edit quality, especially transitions (current cuts feel rough/jerky)
+ If successful, this will lead to ongoing short-form editing work at volume

We are building a YouTube channel of high quality down-to-earth hype-free content for startup founders and business executives.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
+ Select best takes from multiple recordings (3–6 versions of the same script)
+ Cut 4K landscape footage into clean vertical 1080p Shorts
+ Improve pacing, timing, and transitions
+ Apply light captions and minimal overlays (we follow strict design rules)
+ Work in Descript (preferred) or Riverside

HOW WE WORK (IMPORTANT)
+ We give creative direction via Zoom / Google Meet or recorded Loom videos
+ We may point out problem areas in the video, but not prescribe exact step-by-step fixes
+ We expect you to interpret feedback and apply strong editing judgment
+ You should be comfortable improving the video without detailed instructions or spreadsheets
+ This is a “listen, interpret, execute” workflow — not a task-by-task checklist

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
+ Strong editing judgment (you know which take feels right)
+ Experience with talking-head / YouTube Shorts content
+ Clean, intentional transitions (no jumpy or distracting cuts)
+ Ability to follow an existing visual style (not redesign it)
+ Comfortable working from structured files (Descript timelines, multiple takes)
+ Able to take high-level feedback and translate it into clean execution

+ Experience with both Descript and Riverside
+ Understanding of pacing for short-form content
+ Light caption styling / typography sense

+ This is not a full-time role
+ We do not like hype-filled tiktok-style video
+ This is not a creative direction role
+ We are not looking for a new style — we are improving execution quality
