About the Industry:
Our Company is a boutique commercial enforcement and receivables-servicing firm specializing in the recovery of defaulted Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) receivables for funders nationwide. Working alongside partner law firms with multi-state UCC enforcement and MCA litigation practices, our work spans the full enforcement lifecycle: UCC Article 9 lien notices and payment redirects, restraining notices and bank/merchant account restraints, confessions of judgment, post-judgment enforcement (levies, turnovers, debtor examinations, judgment domestication), and bankruptcy proofs of claim.
What sets us apart is our technology. We run our operations on a custom-built case platform, automated document generation, AI-assisted intake and target identification, and integrated financial reporting and we're expanding the team that builds and maintains it.
The Role:
We are seeking a Legal Technology & Automation Analyst to develop and maintain the systems that power our enforcement operations. You will sit at the intersection of financial reporting, case management, and software development building the tools our recovery, lien, and settlement teams use every day.
This is a hands on builder role. You should be equally comfortable debugging a VBA macro in a client reporting workbook, wiring a REST API integration into our case management system, and prototyping an AI-assisted workflow for document extraction or entity research.
Key Responsibilities:
Excel & Financial Reporting Engineering:
- Maintain and develop the firm's Excel workbooks for financial and client reporting, including complex formula architectures, VBA modules, and macros.
- Build and refine payment ledgers, NET DUE reports, portfolio dashboards, and recovery reconciliation models.
- Harden workbooks against user error; document logic so reporting survives personnel changes and audits.
API Integration & Platform Development:
- Design and build API integrations for our case management system (Simplicity Collect / ServiceStack API), covering automated account intake, status sync, and reporting extracts.
- Integrate payment processor APIs for payment posting, plan monitoring, and exception flagging.
- Develop and maintain integrations between our website, intake forms, and internal platform.
- Support our internal web platform (Cloudflare Workers/Pages, Airtable backend) with feature slices, data pipelines, and reporting endpoints.
AI Tool Development:
- Assist in developing and refining AI-assisted workflows: document extraction from purchase agreements, UCC-1 filings, and bank statements; target and registered-agent identification; lien notice package generation.
- Build, test, and document AI skills, prompts, and automation pipelines used by the recovery and intake teams.
- Evaluate new AI tooling and propose adoption where it measurably improves throughput or accuracy.
Enforcement Operations Support:
- Translate legal-team requirements (lien notices, restraining notices, settlement documents, litigation and post-judgment workflows) into structured data models, templates, and automations.
- Support attorneys, paralegals, and recovery specialists with data pulls, batch document generation, and case reporting for litigation and settlement purposes.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation of systems, integrations, and data flows.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in a technical operations, financial systems, litigation support, or software development role.
- Advanced Excel: complex formulas, VBA, and macro development for production financial reporting not just power-user proficiency. Be prepared to walk through workbooks you've built.
- API integration experience*: REST APIs, authentication flows, JSON payloads, and error handling; comfort reading API documentation and shipping working integrations.
- Working proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript or Python preferred).
- Hands-on experience with AI/LLM tools beyond casual use — prompt engineering, workflow automation, or building on LLM APIs.
- Strong data hygiene instincts: validation, reconciliation, version control, and documentation discipline.
- Ability to work with legal and collections professionals, translating operational needs into technical specifications.
Preferred:
- Experience with collections platforms (Simplicity Collect strongly preferred), CRMs, or legal case management systems.
- Familiarity with Cloudflare Workers/Pages, Airtable, or comparable low-ops web stacks.
- Exposure to MCA, commercial collections, receivables, or legal enforcement workflows (UCC liens, judgments, garnishments) — training provided on the legal side.
- Experience with payment processing systems (ACH, card processing, merchant accounts).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or related field or equivalent demonstrated work.
What We Offer:
- Ownership of a real production stack in a boutique, high-accountability environment your work ships and gets used daily.
- Direct collaboration with attorneys, paralegals, and recovery specialists on novel enforcement automation.
- Firm-paid industry certifications and continuing education through association memberships.
- Growth path as the firm's technology footprint expands.
