We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support residential construction projects in Australia. This role focuses on accurate quantity takeoffs, structured cost estimating, and supporting tender submissions in a deadline-driven environment.
Role Overview
The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing tender documents, performing detailed takeoffs, and preparing accurate cost estimates for residential projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tenders, and familiarity with Australian construction standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to define scope of work
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
- Develop detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Review and validate quotations for completeness and accuracy
- Support preparation and submission of tenders and client proposals
- Manage multiple tenders and deadlines concurrently
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and landscaping drawings
- Proven experience in quantity takeoff and cost estimating
- Minimum 3 years experience as an Estimator within the Australian construction industry, with residential project exposure
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, CostX, or Buildsoft Cubit (Cubit preferred)
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Application Requirement
Instead of a live test, candidates are required to submit a sample takeoff or estimate they have previously completed, preferably within the carpentry trade.
