About the Role:
We are seeking a meticulous Trust Accountant to own the financial integrity of our residential portfolio. This is a specialized Trust Accounting role.
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the financial integrity and reporting of the residential portfolio that Streamline manages on behalf of its owners. This role focuses on ‘Trust Accounting’ - the management of funds belonging to others (owners and tenants) and ensuring compliance with state real estate regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Owner Distributions: Execute monthly owner payment cycles. Verify clearing status, run financial diagnostics, calculate management fees, and execute ACH payouts. via AppFolio
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly three-way reconciliations between the bank balance, the software book balance, and the individual property ledgers
- Closing the Month: Ensure all AppFolio diagnostics are cleared and books are "clean" before the new cycle begins
- Oversee security deposit refunds, move-out accounting, and daily ledger adjustments (move-ins, chargebacks, etc.)
- Year-End Reporting: Prepare and distribute 1099s to vendors and owners; provide year-end financial packages for tax purposes
Requirements:
- 4+ years in accounting with at least 2 years in Residential Property Management accounting.
- Expert in AppFolio or Buildium - You should know the shortcuts, the reports, and how
- Strong understanding of Trust accounting principles
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA will be considered an asset
- Fluent English, great written and verbal communication
- Must be available to work US Eastern Time hours
