JOB OVERVIEW

WordPress Website Designer and Builder (Bricks Builder)

Remote | Full-Time or Part-Time
Work Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM AWST

PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING

This role is not for theme installers, Elementor-only builders, or people who use pre-made templates and call it web design.

We are looking for a WordPress Website Designer and Builder who can do both — design clean, modern websites in Figma and then build them accurately in WordPress using Bricks Builder.

You need to be strong at:

- Designing website pages and layouts in Figma — not just wireframes, actual high-fidelity designs with proper spacing, typography, and visual hierarchy
- Building those designs in Bricks Builder — translating Figma to a live site that looks exactly like the design, not "close enough"
- Responsive implementation — desktop, tablet, and mobile must all look intentional, not just squeezed down
- Working from briefs and direction — you will receive page structures, copy (from our copywriter), and brand guidelines. Your job is to make it look great and build it properly.
- Working fast without cutting corners — this is an agency environment with multiple client projects running at the same time

If you can design a website that looks like it was done by a proper studio and build it in Bricks so it loads fast, works on every device, and matches the design exactly — keep reading.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will design and build WordPress websites for service-based businesses across trades, health, real estate, professional services, events, and more. Every site you produce needs to look professional, load fast, and be built to convert visitors into leads.

You will work from briefs, brand guidelines, and copy provided by our team. Sometimes you will receive a full Figma design to build from. Other times you will design the pages yourself in Figma based on a brief, get approval, and then build. You need to be comfortable with both workflows.

Our copywriter handles all website content. Your job is to make that content look great on the page — the visual hierarchy, the layout, the spacing, the typography, the overall feel. Copy will either be placed directly into Figma designs for you or provided separately for you to integrate during the build.

Here is what the day-to-day looks like:

Design

- Design website pages and layouts in Figma based on provided briefs, page structures, and brand guidelines
- Create clean, modern designs with strong visual hierarchy — a visitor should know exactly where to look and what to do on every page
- Maintain consistent spacing, typography, colour usage, and component patterns across every page of a site
- Design with conversion in mind — the layout should guide the visitor toward the CTA, not just look pretty
- Design responsive layouts — you think about how the page works on tablet and mobile during the design phase, not as an afterthought
- Apply brand guidelines accurately — colours, fonts, logo usage, imagery style
- Design reusable components and sections that can be used across multiple pages and client sites
- Present design work for review and iterate based on feedback quickly

Build

- Build approved designs in WordPress using Bricks Builder — the live site must match the Figma design accurately
- Implement responsive behaviour across desktop, tablet, and mobile — every breakpoint should look intentional and polished
- Keep builds clean, lightweight, and well-structured — no bloated code, no unnecessary plugins, no messy class naming
- Optimise for page speed — image compression, lazy loading, minimal CSS/JS, clean markup. Sites need to score well on PageSpeed Insights.
- Implement on-page SEO fundamentals as directed — heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3), image alt text, clean URL structures, schema-ready markup
- Set up and configure essential plugins — forms, analytics, caching, security, SEO (Yoast or RankMath)
- Build reusable templates and global elements in Bricks — headers, footers, section templates that can be maintained centrally
- Test thoroughly before handover — cross-browser testing, mobile testing, form testing, link checking, speed testing
- Troubleshoot and fix issues — if something breaks or does not look right, you own it and fix it without being chased

General

- Manage multiple client website projects at the same time without dropping quality or missing deadlines
- Communicate clearly on progress, blockers, and timelines — you flag issues early, not after a deadline passes
- Follow SOPs and checklists for design and build processes
- Stay current with Bricks Builder updates, WordPress best practices, and modern web design trends

---

MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

- Proven experience designing websites in Figma — not just wireframes or mockups. Full page designs with proper typography, spacing, visual hierarchy, and responsive considerations. You must have a portfolio showing this.
- Strong WordPress build experience using Bricks Builder specifically — you know how to use Bricks to build custom layouts, work with conditions, create templates, and structure sites properly. If your only experience is Elementor or Divi, this is not the right role.
- Ability to translate a Figma design to a live WordPress site accurately — what you design is what you build. No "close enough." Pixel-level attention to detail.
- Strong responsive design skills — you build for desktop, tablet, and mobile deliberately. Not just letting things stack and hoping it looks fine.
- Understanding of page speed optimisation — you know how to keep a WordPress site fast. Image optimisation, minimal plugin usage, clean code, caching basics.
- Understanding of basic on-page SEO implementation — heading hierarchy, image alt text, clean URLs, meta fields. You do not need to be an SEO specialist but you need to implement the fundamentals correctly.
- Understanding of basic CRO and UX principles — you design and build pages that guide visitors toward an action. You think about visual hierarchy, whitespace, CTA placement, and user flow.
- Experience designing and building websites for service-based or lead-generation businesses — not just ecommerce, not just personal blogs.
- Ability to work from briefs and direction — you receive a brief, brand guidelines, and copy, and you produce a polished result. You do not need to be told every detail but you follow the structure and direction given.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once without dropping quality or missing timelines.
- Self-motivation and accountability — you do not wait to be chased. You flag issues, meet deadlines, and take ownership of your work.

If your experience is only Elementor or Divi — do not apply.
If you only design but do not build — do not apply.
If you only build but cannot design in Figma — do not apply.
If your portfolio is only personal projects or template customisations — do not apply.

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience with other WordPress builders (Zion Builder, Oxygen, Breakdance) in addition to Bricks
- Experience with WooCommerce or membership site builds
- Basic PHP, CSS, or JavaScript knowledge for custom tweaks beyond what Bricks provides out of the box
- Experience with GoHighLevel landing page builds or embeds
- Experience working with a copywriter or content team — receiving copy and integrating it into designs rather than writing it yourself
- Familiarity with Google Tag Manager, conversion tracking setup, or analytics implementation
- Experience creating Loom walkthroughs of your design or build process
- Animation and interaction design experience — tasteful micro-interactions, scroll-triggered animations, hover states
- Experience with website accessibility basics (WCAG)

THIS ROLE IS NOT A FIT IF

- You only use Elementor or Divi
- You only design or only build — not both
- You rely on pre-made templates and just swap content
- Your builds are slow, bloated, or plugin-heavy
- You are not comfortable working in Figma
- You cannot build responsive sites that look good on every device
- You prefer heavy strategy or client-facing project management — this is a design and build role, not a strategist role
- You are uncomfortable working from briefs and direction
- You need to be chased for updates or deadlines

THIS ROLE IS A FIT IF

- You are strong in Figma and confident designing full website pages from a brief
- You can build exactly what you design in Bricks Builder
- You care about clean execution — pixel-level accuracy, fast load times, responsive on every device
- You work well from clear instructions and structures
- You can manage multiple builds at once without things falling apart
- You want to focus on design and build, not strategy or project management
- You take pride in your work and own the quality of every site you deliver

---

WHY WORK WITH US

- Work directly with the founder — no middle management
- No micromanagement — clear briefs, clear ownership, clear accountability

- Fast-moving agency that values speed and quality equally
- No-fluff, performance-focused environment
- Remote role with consistent hours and weekly pay

HOW TO APPLY

To be considered, please send:

1. A portfolio showing websites you both designed and built — we need to see your Figma designs alongside the live sites. If you only show live sites with no evidence of the design work, your application will not be reviewed.
2. 3–5 live links to websites you personally designed and built. Tell us which pages are yours and what builder was used.
3. A short summary of your experience with Figma and Bricks Builder — how long you have used each, what types of sites you have built, and your typical workflow from design to live site.
4. Your current work setup — number of monitors, internet speed (screenshot of a speed test), backup internet, power backup
5. Your timezone and daily availability
6. Include the word BLUEPRINT in your application so we know you read this far

Applications without real examples of both design and build work will not be considered. Screenshots of Figma designs with matching live site links are what we want to see.

FINAL FILTER

This role is for designer-builders who care about craft — not people who install a theme and move things around.

If you can take a brief, design something clean and conversion-focused in Figma, and then build it in Bricks so it loads fast, looks identical to the design, and works perfectly on every device — you are exactly who we are looking for.

If you take pride in the details — the spacing, the typography, the hover states, the mobile experience, the load time — and you do not ship work you are not proud of, you will do well here.
