ABOUT US
The FSW Group that is inclusive of Welsford and Valveman, is a family-owned, solution-focused distributor of valves and instrumentation with over 60 years of experience in the industrial, sanitary, and high-purity markets. We pride ourselves on expert service, high responsiveness, and a collaborative, supportive team culture.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone who loves solving technical puzzles, keeps things organized, and gets satisfaction from helping a sales team win. This is a behind-the-scenes role with real impact: you’ll be the person who makes sure the right product gets specified, the right documents get filed, and nothing falls through the cracks.
The ideal candidate is one of two people:
- An engineer (Mechanical, Chemical, Aeronautical, or Industrial) who’s technically sharp, detail-oriented,and eager to learn the valve and instrumentation world.
- An experienced valve or instrumentation professional who knows the products, speaks the language, and can hit the ground running on product selection and application support — degree or no degree.
If you’re strong on process and hustle, we can teach the rest.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Product Selection & Technical Support
- Receive application details from our sales team (fluid type, pressure/temperature, flow, materials, connections, actuation, cleanliness requirements, and more) and translate them into the right product recommendation.
- Select and specify across our line card: control valves, regulators, actuated valves, ball/butterfly/diaphragm valves, sanitary and high-purity components, steam specialties, safety relief, and basic instrumentation.
- Perform or support valve sizing and document assumptions clearly.
- Become the internal expert on key manufacturer lines (such as Jordan Valves and Steriflow).
- Coordinate with vendors for technical confirmation, lead times, and quote support.
- Produce short, confident
Documentation Management
This is a core part of the role — not an afterthought. You’ll be responsible for making sure every order is fully
documented and nothing gets missed.
- Review and process incoming technical documents: Material Test Reports (MTRs), Certificates of Conformance (COCs), test certifications, and other quality documents.
- Map received documents to specific valve tags and line items on each order.
- Track which documents have been received vs. outstanding and follow up with vendors to close gaps.
- Serve as the central point of contact for documentation requirements across the Welsford organization.
- Maintain clean, organized records in our systems so that anyone can pick up an order and know exactly where things stand.
Order Tracking & Expediting
- Confirm that purchase orders have been received and acknowledged by vendors.
- Proactively monitor open orders for delivery delays or issues.
- Raise delays to the appropriate internal tea
- Generate quotes in our Prophet21 ERP system for the outside sales team.
- Serve as a central point of contact for order status across the company.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Strong product knowledge and selection skills across the FSW Group offering - especially control valves and regulators, with the ability to size, specify, and select the correct solution for the application.
- Quick turnaround from inquiry to recommended solution, with clear documentation of what was selected and why.
- High accuracy (fewer re-quotes/returns/technical corrections) driven by clear, complete application data captured up front.
- A fully documented order file: every MTR, COC, and certification mapped to the right tag, every time.
- No surprises on open orders — proactive communication and follow-through on expediting.
- Write-ups and quote docs the sales team can forward directly to customers without editing.
- A team-first reputation: reliable, collaborative, and easy to work with.
QUALIFICATIONS
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- A degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aeronautical, or Industrial Engineering — or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
- 3+ years working with valves, instrumentation, or process equipment (or strong aptitude and a fast learning curve).
- The ability to read and interpret P&IDs, datasheets, technical specs, and IOM documents.
- Strong written English — clean, professional, and customer-ready.
- A natural inclination toward organization: you follow a process, document your work, and close the loop.
Bonus points for:
- Control valve/regulator sizing familiarity (or eagerness to learn quickly)
- Experience supporting pharma, food & beverage, OEM skids, utilities, or power
- CRM/ERP experience (Pipedrive, QuickBooks, BigCommerce, or similar)
- Familiarity with sanitary/high-purity standards and materials
