Content Lead (YouTube & Short-Form Video)

We’re hiring a Content Lead to oversee our long-form and short-form content across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

This is a remote role, working directly with our Founder and filmmaker Ela Thier, and with our small team.

ABOUT US

The Independent Film School, based in New York City, has been in business for 20 years, and online for 8 years. It's home to over 60,000 artists who consume our content, and over 2000 enrolled students. In a cut-throat, competitive industry, when artists find us they feel like they found an oasis of safety, respect, and emphasis on community and fun rather than the rat race.

THE ROLE

We're looking for someone who will grow into taking full ownership of our content systems, so that Ela can just hit record and the rest is handled.

You'll be collaborating with Ela on overall content strategy and ideation while increasingly taking ownership; identifying strong hooks; tracking performance and making decisions accordingly; managing our editor(s). You'll oversee the process soup to nuts: from ideation, to creating titles, thumbnails, introductions, choosing short clips from long-form content, to managing production and edits, captioning, styling, and posting.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who is a creative at heart, and who will quickly absorb, understand, (and enjoy!) what's unique to our brand and our voice. Although the work is remote, flexible, and asynchronous, we'll need you to be extremely communicative and responsive. To demonstrate your attention to detail, please write your favorite color in the subject headline of your message to us. We're looking for someone who can build and manage systems and people, who is comfortable taking ownership and making decisions.

This is not an execution-only role. You’ll be directing the work, not just doing it.

TRAINING

If we might be a fit, we'll begin with a small (paid) test project, and from there move into a 2-week trial. If we choose to move forward together, we'll then shift into a 3-month trial before transitioning into an ongoing, long-term role.

Ultimately, we're looking for someone who will work with us for years to come.

Over the next 6 months, Ela is engaged in high-level coaching programs. You'll be learning alongside her so that you can build a common foundation and understanding of the work. In other words: you'll be receiving complimentary coaching worth over $10K and build skills that will last you a lifetime. We'll be investing that deeply in the right candidates because we're looking for a long-term collaboration.
