We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Records Clerk to join our personal injury law firm. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting our legal team by managing and processing medical records and bills for our clients. This position requires strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong ownership of their workload, proactively managing tasks, tracking progress, and anticipating next steps without the need for frequent oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
• Request and Follow-Up: Request medical records and bills from healthcare providers and proactively follow up to ensure timely receipt.
• Data Entry: Accurately enter data fro
• Verification & Processing: Review, verify and process incoming medical records and bills to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with case files in preparation for demand drafting.
• File Review: Conduct thorough file reviews to confirm all necessary medical records and bills have been received and are complete for demand drafting.
• Communication: Serve as a liaison between the firm and medical providers to resolve discrepancies, clarify information, and request additional documentation.
• Organization: Maintain an organized system for tracking requests, deadlines, and follow-ups.
• Confidentiality: Handle sensitive medical information in compliance with HIPAA and all applicable regulations.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in medical terminology or coding is a plus.
• Prior experience in a medical records department, healthcare setting, or law firm is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, billing processes, and CPT codes is highly desirable.
• Must have dual monitors and a dedicated laptop or desktop computer (Windows operating system required) to perform job duties effectively.
Work Schedule & Expectations:
• Full-time position, Monday through Friday
• 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Central Standard Time (CST)
• Mandatory Monday Zoom huddle at 9:07 AM (CST), with cameras on to support engagement and team collaboration
To support productivity, accountability, and efficient workflow management in a remote environment, the firm may implement a time-tracking tool (such as DeskTime or a similar application). This is intended solely to promote transparency, optimize team performance, and ensure accurate tracking of work hours.
