JOB OVERVIEW

BROAD SCOPE

We are hiring a Video Editor for a single gig. You will receive one long
online gameplay VOD from a fighting game streamer, along with
timestamped instructions. You will edit the identified footage into one
clean, standalone YouTube video, ready to upload. If the work is strong,
there may be future gigs.

OVERVIEW & DETAILS

The source is online play only — ranked matches, exhibition long sets
(first-to-10 or longer) against high-level players, or online tournament
matches played from the player’s point of view. This is not for editing
tournament broadcasts with commentator audio or bracket overlays.

What you will receive:

- One online gameplay VOD (1–5 hours).

- Timestamped instructions identifying the match, set, or collection
of matches to edit together, with start and end times.

- Music notes when applicable (stage name and track to add, plus when
to swap track variants).

- B-roll notes when applicable.

You will not need to watch the full VOD. Match identification has
already been done — your job is to edit the identified segment into one
clean video.

CORE OBJECTIVES

- You are editing one timestamped segment into one clean, standalone
YouTube video with no downtime between the action.

- You are cutting loading screens, character select screens, and dead
air — while preserving every round of actual gameplay.

- You are adding in-game music where instructed, or choosing fitting
music when no notes are provided.

EXPANDED OBJECTIVES

Editing

- Keep transitions between rounds and matches smooth. The action
should feel continuous.

- Cut long cinematic animations (rage arts, supers, etc.) when nothing
else is happening — but keep them if the streamer is reacting or
talking during the animation.

- Do not cut actual gameplay outside of the exceptions above.

Measured by: clean pacing, no downtime, gameplay preserved, cinematic
animations handled with judgment.

Music (when applicable)

- Some VODs will have no in-game music because the streamer was
listening to music separately during the session. When this happens,
you will be given the stage name and the track to add back in.

- Some fighting games have dynamic in-game music that changes based on
round state (for example, Tekken’s “Climax” variant that plays on
the d ---------- round of a game when one player has won two rounds).
When applicable, you will be told which track variants to use and
when to swap them.

- If no music notes are provided, choose music that fits the tone and
vibe of the match.

Measured by: music added at the right ---------- nts, audio levels balanced
against game audio.

B-Roll (when provided)

- If b-roll notes are provided (e.g., show a rank screen or tournament
bracket), add them where noted. Otherwise, no b-roll is needed.

Delivery

- Export as MP4 (1080p minimum) with clean audio levels.

- Upload to a shared Google Drive folder.

Measured by: export quality, delivered on time.

REQUIREMENTS

- Required: You can edit video using video editing software.

- Required: You have reliable internet and can upload/download large
video files via Google Drive.

- Ideal: Prior knowledge in fighting games is not required, but will
make this job much easier.

- Ideal: Experience editing gaming content for YouTube.

HOW TO APPLY

Sample footage VOD: ----------

Timestamp: 1:19:20 – 1:30:01 (ranked match vs. IVoid playing Jin — three
games in this match)

What to edit:

- Edit game 1 only (first-to-three rounds). Include the conversational
lead-in starting at 1:19:20.

- End the video with a smooth transition into the start of game 2. You
do not need to edit game 2 itself — the transition is the test.

- Note: Tekken ranked has no character select screen (the player
pre-selects in training mode). Between match acceptance and the
game, there is only a short loading screen.

Stage and music notes:

- Stage: Genmaji Temple —
----------

- The stream has no in-game music, so add the Genmaji Temple stage
music back in for game 1.

- When one player wins two rounds, swap to the “Climax” version of the
track for the d ---------- round of game 1.

- Do not add music to game 2 — this trial tests your cleanup and
transition proficiency, not the music on game 2.

- Download the music from the wiki link above. Use the highest-quality
mp3 version available.

Your application:

- Edit the sample footage into one clean video following all notes
above.

- Upload your finished edit to Google Drive or Dropbox and share the
link.

Email
your application to ---------- with the subject line:
[Gameplay Video Editor Gig] Your Name

Applications that do not follow every instruction above will not be
considered.

If your application passes, you will be offered a paid gig to edit one
full online gameplay session into a clean, standalone YouTube video.
