Procurement Category Specialist
Full-Time | Remote | Australian Mining Company

We are an Australian-based BPO seeking an experienced Procurement Category Specialist to support our client, an Australian mining company.

This is a full-time (FT) role of 40 hours per week, during Australian business hours. Offering the flexibility of working-from-home (WFH) and a competitive salary package + paid leave + bonuses.

This role is responsible for delivering strategic procurement, sourcing, and category management initiatives, ensuring commercial value, supplier performance, and procurement governance. We’re looking for someone analytical, commercially driven, and experienced in managing tenders, contracts, and supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities Include

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
• Plan and implement strategic sourcing, category, and supplier management plans
• Align supplier spend with business objectives and KPIs
• Provide procurement insights and category performance reporting

Tendering & Contract Management
• Manage end-to-end tender processes for high-value procurement activities
• Lead contract negotiations including new contracts, renewals, amendments, and extensions
• Work with legal terms to ensure proper governance and compliance

Supplier & Stakeholder Management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
• Support vendor management and supplier performance initiatives
• Coordinate supplier prequalification and onboarding

Data Analysis & Reporting
• Perform advanced data analysis to support procurement decisions
• Develop and deliver procurement and category reports
• Provide insights on cost, supplier performance, and savings opportunities

Project Procurement Support
• Support project and equipment procurement activities
• Assist with sourcing, supplier selection, and order placement

Systems & Tools You’ll Use
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Procurement / Supply Chain Systems
• ERP Systems

***** Key Requirements Include ***** MUST HAVES to apply

• 4–5 years of experience in procurement within mining or heavy industry
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing and category management
• Strong experience managing end-to-end tender processes
• Extensive experience negotiating contracts, renewals, and amendments
• Strong commercial acumen and cost analysis capability
• Advanced data analysis and reporting skills (Excel, Pivot Tables, pricing analysis)
• Understanding of supply chain and logistics concepts (domestic and international)
• Relevant tertiary or TAFE qualifications

• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
• Ability to provide leadership and influence decision-making
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• High level of attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Experience supporting mining or large-scale industrial projects
