JOB OVERVIEW

Highland House Play Café is a Bauhaus-inspired indoor play space and café coming to Northeast Los Angeles — a place where kids can genuinely explore and caregivers can sit down and breathe for a minute. We're building our community before we open our doors, and we need someone to help us do it well.
We're looking for a part-time marketing coordinator who can own our social presence, build our waitlist, and help automate the content pipeline we've already started. This isn't a "post pretty pictures" role. It's a build-the-system, show-up-consistently, care-about-the-neighborhood kind of role.
What you'll actually be doing:

Managing and growing our Instagram presence — scheduling posts, writing captions, engaging with the NELA community
Running our ---------- automation pipeline (event scraping ? Notion ? Instagram Story assets)
Sourcing and sharing local family-friendly events happening in Eagle Rock, Glassell Park, Mt. Washington, and surrounding neighborhoods
Growing and managing our email waitlist — from the landing page to the welcome sequence
Supporting pop-up event promotion as we host pre-opening activations in the neighborhood
Eventually: helping manage a Meta ads strategy targeting families within a few miles of our location

What we're looking for:

Genuine familiarity with ---------- or a similar automation tool (n8n, Zapier) — you should be able to build and troubleshoot scenarios, not just describe them
Instagram-native — you understand what performs and why, especially for local small businesses
Strong, clean writing. Our brand voice is dry, warm, and confident. No exclamation points every sentence.
Bonus: experience with ---------- , Notion, or Canva
Bonus: you live in or know NELA. This is a neighborhood business and it shows when someone gets the community

What this is not:
A full-time position (yet). We're pre-revenue and pre-opening. We're looking for the right person to grow with us — someone who wants to be part of building something from the ground up in a neighborhood they care about.
To apply:
Send a short note about yourself, two or three Instagram accounts you've managed or admire, and one sentence about why this project interests you. No formal cover letters needed. We'll know pretty quickly if it's a fit.
