As our Tax Team Lead, you will be responsible for driving the quality, performance, and development of the tax team. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will review complex returns, guide tea ---------- mbers, build systems, and ensure client work is delivered accurately and efficiently. You will play a critical role in scaling the team while maintaining our standard of excellence.
This is a fast-paced, high-ownership role built for someone who is experienced, detail-oriented, and thrives in both technical execution and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Review & Complex Tax Work

- Review tax returns with a focus on accuracy, strategy, and compliance
- Handle and prepare more complex returns and resolve nuanced tax issues
- Provide guidance to tea ---------- mbers on technical questions and edge cases

Team Hiring & Evaluation

- Assist in recruiting and evaluating new tea ---------- mbers
- Review interviews and participate in working interviews and trial assessments
- Ensure new hires meet the firm’s technical and cultural standards

Systems & Process Development

- Build and implement review templates, checklists, and quality control systems
- Ensure systems are consistently followed across the team
- Continuously improve workflows to increase efficiency and reduce errors

Training & Development

- Identify skill gaps across the team and support targeted training initiatives
- Assist in developing tea ---------- mbers’ technical capabilities and performance
- Provide ongoing feedback and mentorship to elevate team output

Onboarding & Team Integration

- Support onboarding of new hires to ensure a smooth and effective ramp-up
-Ensure new tea ---------- mbers are trained on systems, workflows, and expectations
- Maintain consistency in onboarding experience across the team

Quality Control & Client Communication Oversight
- Oversee the quality and tone of client communications across the tax team
- Step in when needed to support or elevate client interactions
- Ensure communication aligns with firm standards of clarity, professionalism, and care

Role Expectations

Maintain a high standard of technical accuracy and attention to detail
- Operate as a leader—proactively identifying issues and solving them
- Ensure consistency and quality across all tax work and client deliverables
- Be highly responsive and available, especially during peak deadlines
- Support the team in a way that drives performance, accountability, and growth

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation and review
- Strong technical knowledge across individual and business tax returns
- Experience reviewing returns and handling complex tax scenarios
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, or support a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment


Availability Expectations
Availability via Slack (mobile) during non-working hours and weekends, especially during peak deadlines

Job Type: Full-time
Location: Remote (aligned with US working hours, 4PM CST–12AM CST)
Pay: $30,000–$50,000/year (based on experience)
