iOS CarPlay Developer (Swift)

Overview

We are building a mobile application called Convoy, focused on real-time group driving experiences (maps, convoy tracking, communication, and navigation).

We are looking for a senior iOS developer with CarPlay experience to design and implement our Apple CarPlay integration.

This is a focused, contract-based role working alongside a React Native team.

What You’ll Be Working On

- You will be responsible for building the CarPlay experience for our app, including:
- Displaying convoy routes and navigation on CarPlay
- Showing nearby convoy members in a driver-safe interface
- Handling real-time updates from the backend (location, status)
- Designing UI flows that comply with Apple CarPlay guidelines
- Integrating with an existing backend (Firebase / APIs)
- Collaborating with our React Native team to align data and behavior

Requirements (Must-Have)

- Strong experience with Swift and iOS development
- Experience building or contributing to Apple CarPlay applications
- Understanding of CarPlay UI templates and Apple restrictions
- Experience working with maps / navigation (MapKit or similar)
- Ability to consume APIs and handle real-time data updates
- Experience debugging and testing on real CarPlay environments

Nice to Have

- Experience bridging native iOS modules with React Native
- Familiarity with Firebase or similar backend services
- Experience with Android Auto (bonus, not required)

- CarPlay app launches and connects to Convoy backend
- Users can view convoy routes and basic session data
- Real-time updates work reliably
- UI complies with Apple’s CarPlay safety guidelines
- Clean, maintainable Swift code that integrates with the main app
