Shipping Optimization Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Shipping Specialist to lead shipping analysis, carrier management, packaging optimization, and pallet configuration. This role focuses on reducing freight costs, improving efficiency, and optimizing carton and master pack strategies.
Key Responsibilities

Analyze shipping costs, carrier performance, and service levels
Develop shipping reports and identify cost-saving opportunities
Manage relationships with carrier reps; review rates, contracts, and surcharges
Optimize packaging, carton sizes, and master pack quantities to reduce dimensional weight and freight costs
Build and optimize pallet configurations using palletization software
Improve cube utilization and ensure compliance with carrier requirements
Maintain accurate shipping data within systems and tools
Audit carrier invoices and identify billing discrepancies, refunds, and surcharge issues
Conduct packaging and dimensional weight experiments to validate cost savings opportunities
Assist with optimizing shipping rules, automation, and carrier selection logic within shipping platforms
Track carrier KPIs including on-time performance, claim rates, and cost-per-shipment metrics
Collaborate with warehouse and product teams to implement packaging standards and improve shipping efficiency
Qualifications:

Experience with shipping platforms (Shippo preferred)
Experience with packaging design or packaging cost optimization
3+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or transportation analysis
Strong understanding of parcel, LTL, and freight rate structures
Experience negotiating or working directly with carrier representatives
Proficiency in Excel for reporting and analysis
Experience with shipping software and pallet/load planning tools
Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and cost-focused
