JOB OVERVIEW

Who we are:
Grid Media is a premium creative house based in Australia. We produce high-performance video content, ads, and brand media for clients who demand results. Our work lives on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Meta. It has to stop thumbs, hold attention, and drive action.

We are story-first, platform-obsessed, and we do not settle for average. Every edit that leaves Grid has a clear hook, a reason to watch, and a reason to act.

We are growing fast and we need a full-time editor who can keep up and raise the bar.

The role
Weekly output: 15–20 short-form edits (less with complex videos)
Format: Vertical (instagram, youtube shorts, tiktok) + Horizontal (youtube)
Software: DaVinci Resolve (non-negotiable)
This is a full-time, in-house remote role. You are not a freelancer picking up occasional projects. You are part of the Grid team with the potential to manage a team if performance is met and you are interested. You will receive footage, brief, and deadlines. You will deliver polished, platform-ready content that our clients love and their audiences watch. You will have creative freedom to change the brief if approved by management.

You will work directly with our Creative Director and operate inside our Frame.io review pipeline. Feedback is direct and constructive. Revisions are expected to be fast. Standards are high.

What you'll do
- Edit 15–20 short-form videos per week — Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, and horizontal cuts
- Apply captions, colour grading, sound design, and pacing that matches each platform natively
- Work within a Frame.io review and approval pipeline — upload, respond to feedback, and revise efficiently
- Maintain brand consistency across multiple Grid clients simultaneously
- Meet deadlines without being chased — you own your output
- Communicate proactively via Slack — async daily standups, flag blockers early
- Think about hooks, retention, and story — not just clean cuts

What we need:
- Minimum 2 years of high-volume short-form video editing
- DaVinci Resolve proficiency: you know it cold, you are fast in it, and you do not need tutorials
- Native understanding of vertical video. Not someone who crops a 16:9 and calls it a Reel
- Strong instinct for hooks. You know the first 3 seconds is everything
- Caption styling experience. Readable, on-brand, platform-appropriate
- Experience with a review/approval tool (Frame.io preferred, or similar)
- Excellent English communication. Written and spoken
- Reliable internet, proper setup, and the ability to work with AEST timezone overlap

Do not apply if:
- You use Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or any other software — DaVinci Resolve is the only tool we use
- You have never edited more than 5 videos per week consistently
- You need significant creative direction on every edit — we brief you, you execute and add value
- You treat deadlines as suggestions
- You cannot communicate clearly in English, both written and on video calls
- You are looking for freelance or part-time work — this is full-time only

What "great" looks like at Grid:
You watch a piece of raw footage and immediately know what the hook is. You cut to keep people watching, not just to look clean. You finish a 60-second Reel and it feels different to a cropped YouTube video. You colour grade without being asked. You send your cut before the deadline. You flag a problem the moment you see it. you do not wait until delivery day. Take initiative.

We are not looking for someone who needs to be taught how to edit. We are looking for someone who already knows and wants a home where their output actually matters.

Compensation & structure:
- Competitive full-time salary. rate discussed based on experience and location (AUD-based)
- Paid monthly
- Formal 30-day onboarding with our Creative Director
- 90-day performance review with salary pathway
- Long-term role. We invest in people who deliver
- Monthly bonus based on video performance

How to apply:
We receive a lot of applications. Here is exactly how to stand out and get a response:

1. Send your showreel or portfolio. Short-form work only. No wedding videos, no corporate talking heads unless it has been repurposed for social.

2. Tell us your weekly editing output at your last or current role. Be specific. How many edits, what format, what platform.

3. Tell us your DaVinci Resolve experience: years of use, what you know deeply, and what you are still learning.

4. Record a 60–90 second Loom or selfie video introducing yourself. Show us how you communicate. This is NOT optional.

5. In the subject line or opening line write: "I edit fast and I think about hooks." This tells us you read the brief.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a test edit using Grid Media footage. Deadline and submission format will be provided via Frame.io.
