Most video editors can’t do this.
And that’s not an insult…
It’s just reality.
If your entire skillset is:
- Adding captions
- Zoom cuts every 2 seconds
- Throwing random B-roll on top of talking heads
- Matching words to text like karaoke
This is NOT for you.
Seriously… don’t apply.
Because what we’re building requires a completely different brain.
What we actually need (read this twice):
In short someone who can edit like this:
We’re looking for a long-form video editor who can:
Zoom OUT before they zoom in
Understand the point of a video before touching the timeline
Edit with intention… not decoration
Tie every cut, visual, and pacing decision back to a bigger narrative
This is NOT about making things “more engaging” with noise.
This is about making things more compelling with structure.
Here’s the problem we keep running into…
Editors who come from short-form think:
“More visuals = better edit”
So what happens?
- Every sentence gets a caption
- Every 3 seconds gets a cut
- Every idea gets drowned in unnecessary B-roll
And the final product?
Feels busy… but empty.
Looks edited… but not thought through.
We don’t want that.
What great looks like to us:
You watch a 20-minute video…
And you’re not thinking about transitions or effects…
You’re locked into the story.
Everything feels intentional.
Every cut earns its place.
The pacing breathes.
And when it ends…
You remember the message.
This role is for you if:
You’ve edited long-form content (10+ minutes) like:
- YouTube videos
- Podcast videos
And more importantly…
You think in:
- Narrative arcs
- Retention flow
- Emotional pacing
- Information hierarchy
Not just:
- Effects
- Presets
- Templates
Damaging truth:
This kind of editing is slower.
It takes more thinking.
More rewatching.
More restraint.
BUT…
The end result is 10x more powerful…
And that’s what we care about.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Taking raw long-form footage and shaping it into a cohesive, compelling story
Making editing decisions based on the goal of the video… not habits
Enhancing clarity, flow, and retention without over-editing
Knowing when to add… and when to leave things alone
What we don’t care about:
- Fancy transitions
- Overused editing tricks
- How fast you can pump out clips
What we DO care about:
- Taste
- Judgment
- Restraint
- Storytelling ability
PS. You should be able to handle basic color grading inside DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, or Final Cut.
Nothing crazy…
But enough to make footage feel clean, consistent, and intentional.
How to apply (this is important):
Do NOT send us short-form edits.
We will ignore them.
Instead, send:
2–3 long-form projects (10+ minutes) you’ve edited
And tell us:
- What was the goal of the video?
- What editing decisions did you make to support that goal?
- What did you intentionally choose NOT to do… and why?
If you read this and thought:
“Finally… someone gets it.”
We want to see your work.
If you read this and thought:
“This seems like overthinking editing…”
This is not for you.
If this feels obvious to you…
You’re probably who we’re looking for.
