JOB OVERVIEW

This role focuses on prospecting, lead generation, outbound sales, appointment setting, follow-up, and helping move qualified prospects through the sales pipeline. The ideal candidate understands B2B sales, communicates professionally, and is comfortable working in a performance-based environment where compensation is tied to closed business and account growth.

The Sales Agent will help identify companies that ship freight, introduce the broker’s services, uncover shipping pain points, and position the brokerage as a reliable transportation partner. This role is critical in helping the freight broker secure new customers, increase freight volume, and build recurring revenue.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Generation and Prospecting
• Research and identify shippers, manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, importers, exporters, and other businesses with freight needs.
• Build prospect lists using online databases, load boards, LinkedIn, Google, industry directories, and CRM tools.
• Qualify leads based on shipping volume, lanes, commodity type, urgency, and fit for brokerage services.
• Maintain a consistent outbound call, email, and follow-up schedule.

Sales Support
• Reach out to prospective customers by phone, email, and other approved channels to introduce freight services.
• Set appointments and discovery calls for the freight broker with decision-makers such as shipping managers, logistics coordinators, warehouse managers, and operations directors.
• Ask qualifying questions to understand current shipping methods, pain points, rates, service issues, and carrier challenges.
• Present the value of the brokerage, including service reliability, communication, coverage, pricing support, and problem-solving ability.
• Assist in reactivating dormant accounts and past leads.

Customer Acquisition
• Help the freight broker secure new accounts by nurturing leads from first contact through onboarding.
• Coordinate collection of key onboarding information such as shipment types, freight lanes, equipment needs, billing contacts, and shipment frequency.
• Support the preparation of sales materials, rate quotes, capability statements, and customer presentations.
• Follow up on quotes, proposals, and introductory conversations to increase close rates.

Relationship Building
• Build trust with prospects and customers through responsive, professional communication.
• Maintain regular contact with leads until they are ready to move freight.
• Assist with account management communications after onboarding to strengthen retention and repeat business.
• Escalate customer issues, objections, or special opportunities to the freight broker quickly.

CRM and Reporting
• Update CRM or sales tracking tools with all calls, emails, notes, follow-up tasks, and account status changes.
• Track lead sources, pipeline stages, booked appointments, closed accounts, and recurring shipper activity.
• Provide weekly reports on outreach activity, qualified leads, appointments set, and revenue opportunities.
• Help maintain an organized pipeline to ensure no prospect is neglected.

Market Awareness
• Stay informed about freight market conditions, shipping trends, common equipment types, and logistics terminology.
• Learn the broker’s service offerings, preferred lanes, target industries, and customer profile.
• Monitor competitor positioning and customer concerns related to pricing, service failures, capacity, and communication.

Day-to-Day Duties
• Make outbound calls to prospective shippers.
• Send cold emails and follow-up messages.
• Qualify inbound and outbound leads.
• Schedule meetings for the freight broker.
• Maintain CRM accuracy.
• Follow up on quotes and pending opportunities.
• Assist with onboarding new shipper accounts.
• Support retention and upsell efforts when needed.

Required Qualifications
• Experience in sales, lead generation, appointment setting, customer service, or business development.
• Strong phone presence and persuasive communication skills.
• Ability to speak confidently with business owners, logistics managers, and operations personnel.
• Organized and self-directed with strong follow-up habits.
• Comfortable working under performance expectations and commission-based compensation.
• Basic understanding of freight brokerage, trucking, logistics, dispatch, shipping, or supply chain terminology is preferred.
• Ability to use email, spreadsheets, CRM systems, and online research tools.

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in freight brokerage, trucking, dispatch, logistics sales, or transportation coordination.
• Existing knowledge of FTL, LTL, reefer, flatbed, drayage, or dedicated freight services.
• Familiarity with shipper prospecting and B2B cold outreach.
• Experience working with U.S. customers and business communication standards.
• Proven ability to convert leads into long-term customer accounts.

Compensation Structure
This role is performance and experience based with pay up to but not limited to 30dollars an hour
