Paraplanner
The Role
The role of the Paraplanner is to support the Financial Planner(s), Practice Manager and Technical Manager
when informing and advising Clients on financial strategies, plans and products, IT operations and organise the
technical task and workflow for the business.
Key Responsibilities and Outputs
? Attending client meetings with Financial Planners as required.
? Supporting the Financial Planner(s) in research and analysis to meet Client needs and objectives
? Supporting the Financial Planner(s) in preparing Client financial plans and suitability reports
? Developing and maintaining internal relationships to help maintain business flow and meet agreed targets
? Managing and reporting technical Management Information to the Technical Executive(s)
? Managing the research and analysis of financial products to meet Client requirements
? Managing the presentation of technical data to the Financial Planner(s)
? Managing the preparation of Client Financial Plans and Suitability Reports.
? FCA related and other regulatory issues
? Any changes to the FCA rules
? Maintaining the provision of IT operations and activities to support business needs
? Promoting the profile of the business within the profession and wider communities
? Continuous professional development to meet regulatory requirements and personal development needs
? Ensuring that any business conducted is done in a responsible and compliant manner, meeting all
legislative requirements, both internally and externally.
Nature and scope of responsibilities
Reports to: Practice Manager and Technical Manager
Direct Reports: Technical Assistant(s)
The role holder is responsible for:
? The technical aspects of preparing for Client meetings, including:
o Preparing and compiling financial analysis data
o Analysing Client data and preparing cash flow analyses
o Researching products to support recommendations
o Compiling financial planning recommendations and suitability reports

o Providing support for the Financial Planner(s)
o Ensuring that all regulatory and compliance standards are met
o Liaising with product providers and other relevant third parties
o Ensuring that all Client requirements are followed through to the appropriate conclusion
o Managing, recording and monitoring Client annual reviews on behalf of the Financial Planner(s)
o Providing support for the Financial Planner(s) allowing the Financial Planner(s) to focus on Client
relationships and meeting business targets
? Assisting the Financial Planner(s) with Client presentations and any other activities as agreed
? Overseeing the provision of administration functions to meet regulatory compliance requirements
o Compliance administration and reporting
o Financial Crime Administration
o Complaints handling and reports
o Compliance liaison with external parties where appropriate
o Maintain and update all Compliance MI
o Implement and manage Compliance training programme
o Designated compliance activities
? IT software and hardware programme maintenance
? IT programme support. Liaise with providers for updates and issues.
? Researching and developing IT Systems in line with the business objectives
? Individual workflow and task delivery
? Assisting the Technical Manager with annual technical reviews of services and products.
? Supervising the training of the Technical Assistants and assisting with their training plans
The role holder may be required to travel for Client visits. This may involve working outside office hours.
The role holder will keep up to date with legislative and industry changes which affect the business and its
Clients.
The role holder may, from time to time, be required to undertake reasonable additional or other duties as are
necessary to meet the needs of the business
