JOB OVERVIEW

**Position:** YouTube Video Editor + Thumbnail Designer
**Type:** [Full-Time / Part-Time / Freelance /]
**Location:** [Remote / Hybrid ]
**Compensation: Based on experience level

We are looking for a high-level YouTube video editor, who understands how to turn raw footage into content that is engaging, polished, and built to perform on YouTube.

This role is not just about cutting clips together. We need someone who can shape a strong story, keep pacing tight, add the right B-roll and graphics, and package each video with a compelling thumbnail. You should be comfortable taking **horizontal footage** and turning it into a polished **long-form YouTube video**, then repurposing that same content into a **vertical short-form edit** for YouTube Shorts and other social platforms.

What You’ll Do:

* Edit **long-form YouTube videos** from raw horizontal footage
* Add **B-roll, music, sound design, text callouts, and graphics** to improve pacing and viewer retention
* Create clean, branded **motion graphics** and on-screen visual elements
* Turn long-form footage into **short-form vertical videos** optimized for YouTube Shorts
* Reframe and resize footage properly for both **16:9 horizontal** and **9:16 vertical** formats
* Design **high-converting YouTube thumbnails**
* Cut for strong **hooks, pacing, clarity, and engagement**
* Organize project files, footage, and exports in a clean and reliable workflow
* Collaborate on revisions and apply feedback quickly
* Maintain consistency with our brand voice, visual style, and content goals

Must-Have Skills

* Strong experience editing for **YouTube**, especially **long-form content**
* Ability to add **B-roll, graphics, captions, and visual storytelling elements**
* Experience creating **YouTube thumbnails**
* Ability to take **horizontal video footage** and create both:

* a polished **long-form YouTube video**
* a **vertical short-form version** for Shorts
* Strong instinct for **story structure, pacing, hooks, and retention**
* Experience with **Adobe Premiere Pro**
* Working knowledge of **After Effects** or similar motion graphics software
* Strong eye for composition, timing, and clean visual design
* Ability to meet deadlines and communicate clearly

Nice-to-Have Skills

* Experience editing for creators, personal brands, or educational/lifestyle/real estate channels
* Understanding of what makes thumbnails clickable without feeling misleading
* Familiarity with YouTube performance metrics such as **audience retention, click-through rate, and watch time**
* Basic color correction and audio cleanup skills
* Ability to suggest stronger edit choices rather than only following instructions

What Success Looks Like

* Long-form videos feel engaging, polished, and professional
* Edits use B-roll and graphics intentionally, not just for filler
* Short-form clips are fast-paced, platform-native, and attention-grabbing
* Thumbnails are clean, bold, and built to drive clicks
* Turnaround is reliable and communication is easy
* Final content feels on-brand and ready to publish
