In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success and profitability of projects by delivering precise cost estimations. Your expertise in quantity takeoffs, cost estimation, vendor coordination, and meticulous documentation will drive the efficiency and excellence of my projects.
What you will do:
Produce accurate shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings in 2D and 3D.
Utilize AutoCAD and Inventor for all drafting tasks. Knowledge of Revit and/or SketchUp is a plus.
Assist with estimating tasks, including material take-offs and cost analysis, as needed.
Manage tasks efficiently and maintain organized documentation for projects.
Must be specialized in Metal & Glass.
Our estimates are complex and will require excellent Excel, Word & Bluebeam Revu skills for project tracking, reporting, and documentation.
Project Analysis: Review construction project plans, specifications, and related documents to thoroughly understand the scope of work.
Quantity Takeoffs: Conduct accurate material quantity takeoffs from project documents.
Cost Estimation: Utilize takeoff quantities to prepare detailed cost estimates, analyzing materials, labor, and equipment requirements while applying appropriate unit costs.
Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes, pricing information, and lead times, maintaining strong relationships to ensure timely material delivery.
Documentation: Prepare detailed takeoff reports, cost estimates, and other relevant documentation using company formats and Excel templates, maintaining accurate records of all calculations, quantities, and cost data.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements, resolve discrepancies, and ensure alignment on scope.
Team Engagement: Attend and actively participate in company-related functions, huddles, and meetings (e.g., estimator weekly meetings, incentive meetings, Foremen meetings, billing meetings) via remote access, contributing constructively.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 3 years as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
Cost Estimation Skills: Proficiency in cost estimation techniques, with knowledge of material and labor costs and market trends.
Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of residential/commercial painting processes, materials, and methods.
Blueprint Reading: Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and related documents.
Takeoff Software: Experience with construction takeoff software tools, such as Bluebeam, Fieldwire, Autocad
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Skill Expectations
Experience bidding architectural coatings and meeting project requirements.
Expert skills in plan reading, specifications, ITBs, Bid Forms, and bidding protocols.
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor for all drafting tasks. Knowledge of Revit and/or SketchUp, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and other software used for bid development and company communications.
Willingness to learn company-specific tools and takeoff shortcuts to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
