Junior Channel Manager | Simple History

About Simple History
Simple History is one of the world’s leading animated history channels on YouTube, bringing battles, disasters, wars, political events and untold stories to life through engaging storytelling and distinctive animation.
We create content for a global audience of millions and continue to scale our output, expand into new formats, and grow internationally.
We are looking for a Channel Manager / Production Coordinator to lead channel growth and oversee production operations, ensuring our content performs at the highest level and workflows run efficiently from idea to upload.

The Role

This is a hybrid strategic and operational role combining:
YouTube growth and performance strategy
Production workflow coordination
Sponsorship management and marketing support
Publishing and post-production oversight
You will sit at the centre of the channel, balancing creativity, analytics, and organisation.

Channel Management Responsibilities

Management
Support day-to-day management of the Simple History YouTube channel
Support the uploading of videos and ensure adherence to platform best practices
Take part in team reviews and perform quality checks before publishing

Creative ideation
Identify content trends and audience opportunities within history and military topics
Work closely with the creator and the creative team to feed performance insights into future content decisions
Support expansion into YT Shorts, social platforms, and new platforms (Microsoft Start, Snapchat, etc)
Sponsorships

Edit and refine CTAs within videos, Work with creator to write sponsorship call-to-action segments (human-written, not AI-generated)
Support outreach and relationship management with sponsors
Help secure repeat brand partnerships through strong delivery and communication
Manage brand integrations and sponsorship workflow



Optimise

Optimise titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags and metadata for SEO and CTR
Conduct detailed analysis of YouTube Analytics and performance metrics
Provide regular performance reports with actionable insights to the wider company team.
Continuously optimise back catalogue content (titles, thumbnails, overall packaging)
Develop and execute growth strategies

Production Coordination Responsibilities
Support video-level budgeting aligned with channel targets
Process invoices and manage contractor documentation
Organise and host meetings, documentation and cloud storage (through Iconik)
Track production costs and freelancer payments via Talentdesk Finance software
Manage video production timelines from ideation to upload
Assist recruitment and onboarding of freelancers

Support the Creator and Video Directors with….
Maintaining and optimise project management systems ( ---------- and Google Sheets)
Tracking scripts, assets and deliverables across production stages
Coordinating video directors, writers, artists, animators, editors and voiceover artists
Maintain clear communication across a distributed team

Requirements

experience in YouTube channel management and digital content production
Passion for history, with a particular interest in military history
Deep understanding of YouTube analytics, content packaging, and platform performance drivers
Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously
Experience using production or project management tools (e.g. ---------- , Airtable or similar)
Proven ability to coordinate creative teams, freelancers, and external collaborators
Fluent English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work within UK/European time zone hours
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to operate independently in a remote environment
Strong copywriting skills, including clear and engaging written communication

Bonus
Experience working on educational, documentary, or knowledge-based YouTube channels
Familiarity with animation production workflows and creative pipelines
Experience managing brand sponsorships, partnerships, or commercial integrations
Understanding of YouTube monetisation strategies, including sponsorships, memberships, and diversified revenue streams
