About Us
Kinara International is a fast-growing, multi-entity group with operations across the UK, Germany, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, and the UAE. We specialise in international trade and distribution. Our German entity handles significant cross-border transactions and supplier/customer activity. We’re now looking for a dynamic and detail oriented Financial Assistant (Bookkeeper) to join our growing team.
We are looking for a bookkeeper to maintain our German entity's books in Xero and coordinate with our external German tax consultants. You will work remotely from South Africa, report to our Group Finance Controller in Dubai, and serve as the liaison between our internal finance team and our German tax advisors.
Core Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate accounting records in Xero for the German entity
Process invoices and payments
Perform monthly bank reconciliations
Prepare monthly management accounts
Code transactions correctly for VAT and reporting purposes
Provide clean, timely data to external tax consultants
Respond to queries from consultants and track deadlines
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate accounting records in Xero for our German entity
- Process accounts payable and receivable
- Monthly bank reconciliations across EUR and multi-currency accounts
- Post journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Keep the chart of accounts clean and organized
Coordination with External Tax Consultants:
- Provide transaction data, reports, and supporting documentation
- Answer questions about specific transactions
- Track submission deadlines and ensure timely delivery
- Flag any issues or discrepancies to the Group Finance Controller
Month-End & Reporting:
- Execute month-end close on time
- Prepare monthly management accounts for Group Finance review
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Proficient in Xero (this is critical and non-negotiable)
Understanding of VAT principles and transaction coding
Strong Excel skills (reconciliations, pivot tables)
Fluent in English (all communication is in English)
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
Preferred:
Experience working with a German entity or German accounting requirements
Working knowledge of German VAT (Umsatzsteuer)
Familiarity with DATEV (helpful but not required)
German language skills (helpful but not required)
