About the Organization

They Were Here is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the legacies of people who have passed away by sharing their stories and life lessons with the world.

Through interviews, storytelling, and media, we help families honor loved ones while inspiring others to live meaningful lives.

We are launching a podcast and sharing powerful stories through social media, and we are looking for a video editor who can help turn interviews into meaningful short-form content.

This role may grow over time as the nonprofit expands.

Responsibilities
Podcast Editing

Edit podcast video interviews

Clean up audio and remove mistakes or pauses

Export full video episodes

Short Form Content

Create short clips for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts

Add captions and subtitles

Add simple music and transitions

Content Formatting

Format clips for vertical video (9:16)

Add simple text overlays or titles

Export files optimized for social media

Skills Required

Experience editing video content

Ability to create short-form clips for social media

Basic understanding of storytelling and pacing

Strong attention to detail

Tools you may use:

CapCut

Premiere Pro

Final Cut

DaVinci Resolve

(Any editing software is fine as long as the results are good.)

Bonus Skills (Not Required)

Experience editing podcasts

Experience creating viral social clips

Motion graphics or captions

Canva

What We Are Looking For

Someone who is:

Reliable and responsive

Creative with storytelling

Able to work independently

Interested in long-term work with a mission-driven nonprofit

Work Hours

Flexible schedule
Approximately 3–8 hours per week to start
