JOB OVERVIEW

We are an e-commerce business currently running our website on Shopify, and we are in the process of transitioning to a custom-built site using Next.js. We need an experienced SEO Specialist to ensure a smooth migration that preserves all existing links, affiliate links, and traffic while building new SEO strategies for long-term growth. This is a long-term position where you'll work closely with our team to optimize our online presence.
Our goal is to avoid any loss in search rankings or traffic during the switch and to start generating new organic traffic through keyword research, link building, and content optimization on the new site. If you're passionate about SEO and have experience with site migrations, we'd love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and execute a seamless SEO migration from Shopify to Next.js, including setting up 301 redirects for all URLs to preserve link equity, affiliate links, and existing traffic.
Audit the current Shopify site for SEO issues (e.g., crawl errors, duplicate content, page speed) and implement fixes before and after migration.
Use tools like Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush, or similar to monitor traffic, rankings, and backlinks during the transition.
Conduct keyword research to identify high-potential keywords for our products/services and optimize the new Next.js site accordingly.
Build new backlinks through ethical strategies like guest posting, outreach, and partnerships to increase domain authority.
Optimize on-page elements (titles, meta descriptions, headers, alt tags, schema markup) and technical SEO (sitemaps, robots.txt, canonical tags, mobile-friendliness) on the new site.
Create and implement a content strategy to drive organic traffic, including blog posts, product pages, and landing pages.
Track and report on SEO performance metrics (e.g., organic traffic growth, keyword rankings, conversion rates) monthly, with recommendations for improvements.
Handle any post-migration issues, such as fixing broken links or recovering from potential ranking drops.
Stay updated on SEO best practices, algorithm changes (e.g., Google updates), and e-commerce trends to provide ongoing optimization.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Proven experience in SEO, with at least 2-3 years in a similar role (please provide examples of past site migrations or SEO campaigns in your application).
Strong knowledge of technical SEO, especially for JavaScript frameworks like Next.js (experience with React/Next.js is a plus).
Familiarity with e-commerce platforms like Shopify and migrating to custom sites.
Proficiency in SEO tools: Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, or equivalent.
Understanding of affiliate marketing and how to maintain affiliate links without disrupting SEO.
Excellent analytical skills to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
Good English communication skills for reporting and collaboration (we're based in the US).
Ability to work independently in a remote setup, with reliable internet and availability during [insert preferred hours, e.g., US Eastern Time overlapping hours].
Bonus: Experience with content creation, local SEO (if applicable).

What We Offer:

Long-term, stable position with potential for growth as our business expands.
Flexible remote work.
Opportunity to lead SEO initiatives and see direct impact on business growth.
Paid time off
