Job Description: Chemist/Analyst
Position Overview
The Chemist is responsible for performing qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products in compliance with established laboratory procedures, regulatory standards, and client requirements. The role involves operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, interpreting data, preparing reports, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of testing results.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and specialized chemical tests on various samples (raw materials, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food products) using both standardized classical methods and advanced instrumentation.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as HPLC-UV, GC-MS, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, FTIR, titrators, and other analytical instruments.
- Prepare chemical reagents, solutions, and standards accurately following SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety practices, quality assurance (QA), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Document test results accurately in laboratory notebooks, electronic databases, and reports, ensuring traceability and integrity of data.
- Perform method validation, troubleshooting, and development of analytical procedures when necessary.
-Participate in internal and external proficiency testing programs to ensure the laboratory’s reliability and accreditation compliance.
- Collaborate with supervisors and technical staff to improve testing procedures and maintain efficiency in laboratory operations.
- Support audit preparations and ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, FDA, or other regulatory standards applicable to the testing facility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
- PRC licensed.
- Background in analytical chemistry and experience in laboratory testing.
- Familiarity with laboratory quality systems, GLP, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements is an advantage.
- Proficiency in using one of these laboratory instruments is an advantage (HPLC, GC, AAS, ICP, UV-Vis, etc.).
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
