The Role
We are hiring a Fiction Market Research & Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) Intern to support structured Kindle launches and relaunches.
This is a junior publishing research position designed for someone who wants to understand how books succeed commercially on Amazon.
This role is ideal for someone who:
• Loves fiction and genuinely gets excited about story structure
• Thinks analytically and notices patterns
• Enjoys spreadsheets and structured research
• Wants to learn marketplace psychology and algorithm behavior
• Is comfortable working in data-driven environments
This role is research-led and data-informed.
Creative writing is not the primary focus.
You will support the groundwork behind:
• Fiction keyword research
• Category positioning
• Competitor intelligence
• Title and description positioning research
• Cover trend research
• ARC tracking support
• Metadata documentation
You will not:
• Make final publishing decisions
• Access author publishing accounts
• Immediately manage advertising budgets
Training, templates, and weekly coaching are provided.

Hours & Compensation
• 10 to 20 hours per week
• $4 to $6 USD per hour depending on experience
• Remote contractor role
• 1 active title at a time during first 60 days
• Weekly check-in with Publishing Strategist
Performance review at 90 days with potential rate adjustment based on competency, accuracy, and reliability.
Growth Opportunity
This role includes a structured pathway into Amazon Ads support and eventual campaign management for high performers.
After demonstrating strong research competency, you may:
• Assist with campaign setup
• Upload and organize keyword targeting
• Monitor weekly ad metrics
• Recommend keyword refinements
High performers may eventually manage small Amazon Ads budgets.
Commission eligibility begins only after formal transition into campaign management.
Commission structure:
• 3% to 5% of net profit generated from Amazon Ads campaigns directly managed
Net profit is calculated after ad spend and platform fees.
Training is provided before any advertising responsibility is assigned.
