An education consultant is seeking qualified writers and/or educators to apply for contract curriculum writing roles in the development of student-facing primary literacy textbooks.
1. Job Description:
Writers will be developing student-facing textbook lessons, meaning:
The content is written to the child
Instructions, explanations and activities are intended for the student to read and complete
The textbook itself guides the learner step by step
2. Project Areas & Target Levels
Writers may be assigned to one or both of the following areas:
Reading Comprehension
Creative Writing
3. Sample Task (Required for Application)
Applicants must submit a sample of student-facing textbook content (2-3 pages maximum).
Your sample must:
Be written directly to students
Include a clear explanation of the skill
Provide at least one example
Include 2–4 short student activities
Applicants may choose one of the following skills for their sample:
Making Inferences
Purpose of a Text (PIE: Persuade, Inform, Entertain)
Similes
Writing paragraphs
Target level for the sample:
Infants Level 2 (6-year-olds) OR Standard 1 (7-year-olds)
3. Who Should Apply
This opportunity is suitable for individuals who:
Have a background in Primary or Elementary Education
Have experience teaching or developing materials for learners aged 5–9 years old
Can write clearly, simply and engagingly for young learners
Are comfortable following structured writing guidelines
Are open to feedback and revisions
Experience in curriculum writing or textbook development is an advantage but not required.
4. Nature of Engagement
Contract, work-for-hire role
Writers work under the guidance of a Curriculum Lead
All materials produced are the exclusive intellectual property of the education consultant
Selected applicants must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and Curriculum Writing Contract before receiving project materials
5. Compensation
Compensation will be agreed on a per-project or milestone basis, depending on:
Assigned subject area
Number of levels
Volume of content
Applicants must include their rate or fee expectation.
