Job Overview: We are a growing Australian-based construction firm seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our project lifecycle, providing accurate cost estimates and take-offs for residential and commercial projects. This is a remote role for a professional who understands the nuances of the Australian building industry, including local standards, terminology, and pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive quantity take-offs from architectural and structural drawings.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, and equipment.
Liaise with Australian suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes.
Utilize estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend, CostX, Cubit, or similar) to generate reports.
Analyze project specifications and identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities.
Ensure all estimates comply with the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct experience working as an Estimator for an Australian construction or renovation company.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of Australian building methods, materials (e.g., timber framing, brick veneer), and the "Residential Cost Guide."
Software Skills: Proficiency in Bluebeam, Excel, and at least one major construction estimating platform.
Communication: Exceptional English communication skills (written and verbal), as you will be communicating with the AU team and local suppliers.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in measurement and data entry is non-negotiable.
