About Us
Templ Constructions is a residential building company based in Australia specialising in home extensions and renovations. We're looking for a skilled construction estimator to join our team remotely and help us produce accurate, detailed takeoffs and costings across our project pipeline.
The Role
You'll be responsible for quantity takeoffs and trade costings for residential extension and renovation projects. This covers all trades except carpentry labour, which we handle in-house. The volume of work is project-based — some weeks will be busier than others — so we need someone who is comfortable with a flexible arrangement and can manage their time well.
What You'll Be Doing

Reading and interpreting residential construction drawings and specifications to Australian standards
Producing quantity takeoffs for all trades (structural, electrical, plumbing, tiling, plastering, painting, roofing, etc.)
Preparing detailed costings using current Australian supplier and subcontractor rates
Working in Buildxact to produce estimates and material schedules
Communicating with the director to clarify scope, pricing, and project details as needed

What We're Looking For

Experience in construction estimating, ideally for residential projects (extensions, renovations, or new builds)
Familiarity with Australian building standards and the National Construction Code (NCC) is a strong advantage
Proficiency in Buildxact (required) and confidence working with construction drawings
Strong attention to detail — accuracy on takeoffs and costings is critical
Reliable communication in English, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and meet deadlines
A stable internet connection and a quiet workspace

Nice to Have (Not Required)

Previous experience working with Australian builders or construction companies
Knowledge of Australian supplier pricing (Bunnings Trade, Bowens, CSR, etc.)
Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar takeoff software

How This Works
This is a direct hire arrangement — you'll work directly with the owner/director of Templ Constructions, not through an agency. Work volume is project-based, so hours will flex depending on our pipeline. We're after someone who wants a long-term working relationship, not a one-off gig.
If you're the right fit, we'll start with a paid trial on a couple of real projects so we can both make sure it works before committing to an ongoing arrangement.
