JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description: Xero Bookkeeper (Australian GST) – Catch-Up + Ongoing

We are an Australian small business looking for an experienced Xero Bookkeeper to help with a 2-financial-year catch-up, followed by ongoing bookkeeping work.

This is a remote role with long-term potential for the right person.

Scope of Work

Initial Catch-Up (Priority):
• Review and reconcile 2 financial years of Xero data
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
• Enter and match purchase receipts and invoices
• Correct miscoded transactions
• Handle mixed personal and business transactions correctly
• Ensure accounts are BAS-ready

Ongoing Work (After Catch-Up):
• Weekly or monthly bank reconciliations
• Ongoing receipt and invoice processing
• Maintain clean, accurate Xero records
• Prepare reports (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet)

Requirements (Please read carefully)

You must have:
• ? Strong experience using Xero (minimum 2 years)
• ? Experience with Australian GST
• ? Proven experience doing catch-up / clean-up bookkeeping
• ? High attention to detail
• ? Ability to work independently and ask questions when unsure
• ? Good written English and reliable communication

Nice to have (but not required):
• Xero certification
• Experience with Australian trades or service businesses

Important Notes
• There is mixed personal and business spending in the bank feeds
• If a transaction is clearly personal, it must be coded correctly (no guessing)
• If a receipt is missing, GST must not be claimed
• Accuracy is more important than speed

Hours & Pay
• Catch-up project first (hours to be agreed after review)
• Ongoing work: 5–10 hours per week
• Pay: Hourly or fixed monthly (please include your expectation)
