I am a U.S.-based attorney seeking a part-time paralegal to assist with U.S. legal research and internal drafting.
This role is research- and writing-heavy and is ideal for someone with a law degree or bar admission outside the United States who is comfortable working under close attorney supervision.
This position does not involve client communication, court appearances, or independent legal advice.
Core Responsibilities
• Legal research using U.S. statutes, regulations, and case law
• Drafting internal research memoranda and case summaries
• Preparing first-pass drafts of motions or briefs for attorney review
• Cite-checking and organizing legal authorities
• Document review and factual timeline preparation
All work is reviewed and finalized by a U.S.-licensed attorney.
Preferred Qualifications (Read Carefully)
Strongly preferred:
• Law degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent)
• Bar admission in the Philippines or another non-U.S. jurisdiction
Required:
• Excellent written English
• Comfort researching U.S. law (federal and state)
• Ability to distinguish binding vs. persuasive authority
• Clear, concise legal writing
• Reliability and responsiveness during agreed working hours
Paralegal certification is not required.
Work Details
• Part-time (approximately 10–20 hours per week to start)
• Fully remote
• Paid hourly
• Work assigned with clear instructions and deadlines
• Trial period with a paid research/writing assignment
This is potentially a long-term role for the right person.
