We’re looking for an experienced, expert-level designer to support ongoing brand, content, and marketing work across multiple clients and internal projects.
This is not a junior role and not a “make it pretty” position. We’re looking for someone with strong visual judgment, strategic instincts, and the ability to execute clean, on-brand design work quickly and confidently.
You’ll be joining a small, highly capable team of contractors delivering thoughtful, high-quality marketing work for established businesses.
What You’ll Do
Design polished, on-brand assets using Canva (expert level required)
Create marketing and content assets such as:
Lead magnet PDFs and workbooks
Slide decks and presentation materials
Social graphics for LinkedIn and Instagram
Brand-aligned one-pagers and digital resources
Apply brand systems consistently while elevating the final output
Translate strategy and written direction into strong visual layouts
Work efficiently with existing brand guidelines and templates, and improve them when appropriate
Collaborate with the marketing lead to refine visuals before delivery
Manage feedback and revisions without hand-holding
Hit deadlines consistently and communicate proactively if timelines shift
What We’re Looking For
This role is best suited for someone who is already very comfortable designing for business, understands marketing context, and does not need step-by-step direction.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has expert-level Canva experience and understands how to push it beyond basic templates
Has working knowledge of Adobe tools (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and can step into them when needed
Brings strong layout, typography, and visual hierarchy skills
Thinks strategically about design, not just aesthetically
Works independently, takes ownership, and follows through
Communicates clearly and professionally in Slack
Is detail-oriented and notices inconsistencies before they become problems
Is reliable, organized, and comfortable working with multiple projects at once
Fluent in English, both spoken and written, and comfortable communicating with the team in meetings and day-to-day Slack conversations.
Who You’d Be Working For
You’d be working directly with me and my Business Operations Lead Christian.
I’m a seasoned business owner supporting clients across marketing, events, healthcare-adjacent businesses, and professional services. I run a boutique marketing and strategy company based in Ontario, Canada, and work with a small group of highly motivated contractors who care about doing excellent work and respecting each other’s time.
We operate like a real team:
Clear expectations
Direct, honest communication
Mutual respect
Deadlines matter, and we help each other hit them
There’s no micromanaging here, but there is accountability. If you do strong work, communicate well, and meet deadlines, you’ll have autonomy, consistency, and long-term opportunity. If you need rigid structure, constant oversight, or a big-agency environment, this likely won’t be the right fit.
Tools & Workflow
You’ll be working within our existing stack:
Canva (primary design tool)
Google Drive (file management and collaboration)
Slack (daily communication)
Airtable (project tracking)
You’re welcome to use Adobe or other tools as needed, as long as final deliverables align with our workflow.
Time Commitment
Approximately 5 hours per week to start
Work is expected during EST working hours, roughly 10:00am–7:00pm ET
Hours may increase over time based on workload and performance
This is a contract role with ongoing work
Reporting & Structure
You’ll work directly with our Business Operations Lead and collaborate with the team as needed
Work is scoped and coordinated through our internal systems and our project lead
You may support both internal projects and client-facing deliverables
How to Apply
Please include the following in your application:
A short note about your design background and experience
Links to relevant design work (PDFs, decks, social assets, workbooks, etc.)
Confirmation that you’re comfortable with part-time, variable hours
Your preferred hourly rate in USD
A brief answer to:
What kind of design work you enjoy most
Where you’d like to be professionally in 1 year and 3–5 years
