Google Ads Specialist (Hourly)
REFUGE Marketing and Consulting is looking for a Google Ads Specialist.
- This is an hourly position averaging 5-15 hours per week, work availability overlapping CST/CDT mornings.
- Rate is $10 -$15 per hour depending on the applicant's experience
Once shortlisted for the position, you will undergo a paid test project so that we can further assess your skills in the role that we are looking for.
Role Overview
As a Google Ads Specialist, you are expected to manage multiple client accounts across diverse industries, developing paid search strategies, and optimizing campaigns for performance. This role involves:
Planning, executing, and optimizing paid search campaigns to drive targeted traffic and achieve business goals
Manage keyword research, manage budget, ad copy, bidding strategies, and performance tracking to maximize ROI across Google Ads platforms
Job Responsibilities:
Campaign Strategy & Setup
- Develop and implement Google Ads strategies to meet account goals.
- Set up and manage Search, Display, Shopping, YouTube, and Performance Max campaigns.
- Conduct keyword research and competitor analysis.
- Support Sales team by creating forecast conversions/targets on a lead account
Campaign Management & Optimization
- Monitor performance daily and make data-driven adjustments to improve CTR, CPC, CPA, and ROI.
- Perform A/B testing on ad copy, creatives, and landing pages.
- Optimize bidding strategies, budget allocations, and audience targeting.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly performance reports using Google Ads, Google Analytics, and other tools.
- Identify trends and insights to recommend actionable improvements.
- Track conversion metrics and ensure proper tagging and tracking (e.g., with GTM).
Collaboration & Communicatio
- Work closely with the marketing, design, and sales teams to align campaigns with broader business goals.
- Communicate campaign status, performance updates, and strategy pivots to stakeholders or clients.
Compliance & Best Practices
- Stay updated with Google Ads policy changes and best practices.
- Ensure all campaigns comply with platform guidelines and brand standards.
- Ensure the accounts’ Google Ads Advertiser’s Verification Status is updated to avoid pausing of campaigns
- Ensure REFUGE keeps the Google Ads Badge by taking and passing certifications
Documentation
- Keep updated Client Documentation for strategy and centralized information
- Write at least 1 case study each month on a client campaign that performed well.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience managing Google Ads campaigns
- Proficiency in Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, CallRail and ClickCease
- Experience with keyword research tools (e.g., SEMrush, Ahrefs).
- Familiarity with CRO, landing page design, and conversion tracking.
- Certifications are a plus: Google Ads Search Certification, Google Ads Display Certification, Google Ads Measurement
- Certification, Google Analytics Certification
- Communicate with the rest of the REFUGE team to share strategies, insights, and more.
- Able to attend Weekly Team huddles.
