AU - Senior Tax Accountant / Accounts Finalization Specialist

We are a well-established accounting practice seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Accounts Finalization Specialist to join our team remotely in Australia. This role involves preparing and finalizing annual accounts, reviewing financial statements, and ensuring quality compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Finalization of Accounts:
• Finalize annual accounts and financial statements for clients
• Prepare working papers based on checklists provided
• Download and organize reports from accounting software
• Prepare annual accounts and financial statements when review work is not required

Australian Tax Return Preparation:
• Prepare tax returns based on finalized accounts
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with tax regulations

Review Work:
• Review annual accounts for final partner sign-off when review work is available
• Identify and flag small compliance items and minor discrepancies
• Ensure minimal changes are required after your review (high accuracy expected)
• Quality check financial statements before final submission

Software Requirements:
• Strong proficiency in Xero (essential)
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (essential)
- Knowledge of LodgeIT will be good
• Ability to work with our established working paper templates and checklists

Requirements:
• Minimum 2-4 years of experience in accounts finalization and financial statement preparation
• Proven experience with Xero and QuickBooks
• Strong understanding of accounting standards and compliance requirements
• Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
• Experience in reviewing accounts and identifying discrepancies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
