What You’ll Do
Edit short?form vertical videos (Reels, TikTok, Shorts, FB Reels) of recent news.
- Add captions, titles, sound design, basic motion, and B?roll that keep viewers watching.
- Turn long?form interviews / commentary into multiple high?retention clips.
- Follow brand voice and conservative tone (serious, clear, non?hysterical).
- Hit tight deadlines and communicate clearly with producers and project managers.
- Take feedback, apply it fast, and improve with each round.
Schedule & Communication (Non?Negotiable)
- This role is 6 days per week, aligned to U.S. news cycles.
- You must be available for:
- A fixed daily working window with overlap to U.S. daytime
During working hours, we expect:
- Response within 15–30 minutes on Slack/WhatsApp
- Proactive updates: “Draft uploaded,” “Need clarification on X,” “ETA 2 hours,” etc.
- If you want strict Monday–Friday, 9–5, this is not the role.
Requirements
- Proven experience editing short?form content for social (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, etc.).
- Strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and hooks for news / commentary / documentary style.
- Proficiency in at least one pro tool: Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut.
Comfortable working with:
- Talking?head commentary
- Live show clips
- News / current events content
- Strong written and spoken English for clear communication.
- Reliable computer and stable high?speed internet (uploading large files regularly).
What Success Looks Like
You consistently:
- Deliver edits on or before deadlines.
- Require minimal revision rounds (1–2 max).
- Communicate early if there’s any risk of delay.
- Produce clips that hold attention and fit our tone.
