Role Overview
As a Loan Officer at So Money, you will be responsible for managing loan applications from submission through to settlement.
This role focuses on loan processing, lender liaison, and settlement coordination, requiring strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of lending processes, and the ability to manage multiple files efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Loan Processing & Application Management
Liaise with mortgage brokers and internal teams to collect, review, and verify loan application documents
Conduct preliminary assessments of client financial information (income, liabilities, credit history, etc.)
Assist in structuring appropriate loan solutions (Owner Occupied, Investment, Alt Doc, LVR considerations)
Prepare and submit loan applications to lenders
Monitor application progress, including valuations, conditional approvals, and credit requirements
Settlement Coordination
Coordinate settlements with lenders, solicitors, conveyancers, and internal settlement teams
Review loan contracts, mortgage documents, and settlement statements prior to settlement
Follow up outstanding conditions and documentation to ensure timely settlement
Manage post-approval and pre-settlement requirements to avoid delays
Documentation & Compliance
Ensure all loan files comply with NCCP, AML/CTF, and internal compliance requirements
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM and loan systems
Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
Key Requirements
Essential
Minimum 1 year experience in the Australian mortgage industry (Loan Officer, Loan Processor, Settlement Officer, or Broker Support role)
Good understanding of the end-to-end home loan process, including settlement
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to manage multiple applications in a fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking (completed or in progress)
Experience with non-bank lending, Alt Doc loans, or complex income scenarios
Familiarity with ApplyOnline, Mercury, Salestrekker, or similar platforms
Experience working with mortgage brokers, lenders, solicitors, or conveyancers
