DATA ANALYST & REPORT WRITER

Overview
FRAXN is seeking a Data Analyst and Report Writer for a high-impact, project-based engagement to help produce a proprietary financial benchmarking study of the U.S. pest control industry.
This is a defined assignment with a clear outcome: a polished, publishable industry report built on original analysis and professional-grade visuals. Your work will be read by business owners and operators across the U.S.—not buried in an internal deck.

Strong performance may lead to ongoing benchmark releases and follow-on studies as the dataset expands.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning messy financial data into clear, credible insights—and who takes pride in writing that feels thoughtful, human, and authoritative (not automated or generic).

What You’ll Work On
You’ll analyze FRAXN’s proprietary dataset of real pest control operators and translate your findings into an industry-level report that helps business owners understand how they truly compare.
Your work will include:
• Analyzing financial performance across revenue tiers and geographic regions
• Identifying benchmarks, ranges, and meaningful trends
• Explaining why differences exist—not just reporting the numbers
• Producing a clean, well-structured report supported by compelling visuals
This is a contained project, not an open-ended role. Scope, milestones, and review points will be clearly defined from the start.

Responsibilities:

Analysis
• Query, clean, and validate financial data within FRAXN’s analytics environment
• Calculate core service-business metrics (e.g., gross margin, EBITDA margin, labor ratios, operating expense categories)
• Segment results by revenue tier, region, and time period
• Identify outliers and explain underlying drivers, not just surface-level variance

Writing
• Write the primary industry study in clear, direct business English
• Translate financial insights into language pest control operators can understand and act on
• Produce a decisive executive summary and a concise, transparent methodology section
• Avoid filler language, generic phrasing, and AI-style repetition
• Revise drafts based on editorial feedback

Graphs & Visuals
• Create visuals that directly support the narrative—not decoration
• Select the right chart types for comparisons, distributions, and trends
• Ensure graphs are clean, labeled, and self-explanatory
• Iterate on visuals to tightly align analysis and storytelling

Deliverables
• Final pest control industry benchmark report
• Executive summary highlighting key findings and benchmarks
• Embedded graphs and tables throughout the report
• Segment-level analysis by revenue tier and geographic region
• Methodology and data notes
• Supporting analysis files and chart source data

Background & Skills
Required
• Proven experience delivering analytical projects that result in written reports
• Strong understanding of financial statements and P&L structures
• Solid SQL skills and advanced Excel or Google Sheets proficiency
• Experience working with real-world, imperfect business data
• Strong written English with a natural, human tone
Preferred
• Experience supporting U.S.-based companies
• Familiarity with service-based or trade businesses
• Prior work on benchmarking, industry studies, or long-form analytical reports
• Experience producing publication-quality graphs
