JOB OVERVIEW

Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire | Remote (Time-Zone Sensitive)
Reports to: Creative Director
The Role
Peluva is hiring an Assistant Editor in title, but a true Second Editor in function.
This role is for someone who can own edits outright - from creative brief to final delivery - while collaborating closely with the Creative Director and client stakeholders. You are trusted with real responsibility, real output, and real creative impact.
This is not a junior support role, and it is not a volume-at-all-costs position.
We’re looking for an editor with taste, restraint, and curiosity - someone who understands cinematic lifestyle storytelling, but is equally fluent in modern social culture, trends, and emerging tools. Someone who experiments, adapts, and stays relevant because they care about the craft.
Over time, this role is designed to evolve into a long-term creative partnership.
What You’ll Work On
Approximate content mix:
60% Social short-form (Reels, TikTok, Shorts)

25% Brand films & cinematic lifestyle pieces

10?s / performance content

5% YouTube / long-form

Typical weekly output ranges from 1–5 deliverables, depending on scope and priority.

Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Editorial Ownership
Own projects from ingest through final delivery in Adobe Premiere Pro, maintaining clean, organized project files that support smooth collaboration when adjustments or refinements are needed at any time.

Operate with a high degree of autonomy. This role is built on trust, not micromanagement - communication is clear, expectations are realistic, and deep focus is respected. True emergencies are rare by design, not the norm.

Translate creative briefs into polished, on-brand edits with minimal oversight, making strong editorial decisions independently while staying aligned with creative direction.

Manage revisions efficiently through Frame.io, maintaining clarity, professionalism, and composure in client-facing feedback cycles.

Cinematic Storytelling
Edit with intention - prioritizing pacing, texture, sound design, and emotional clarity.

Elevate lifestyle footage into grounded, cinematic brand moments.

Apply restraint where needed and lean into boldness when the story calls for it.

Creative Collaboration
Work directly with the Creative Director in a Slack-heavy, async workflow.

Primarily execute creative direction, while collaborating more deeply on high-impact or flagship pieces.

Communicate clearly, ask smart questions, and push work forward without friction.

Motion, Design & Visual Enhancement
Confidently work across the Adobe Creative Suite, with strong experience in After Effects.

Update, adapt, or build motion graphics, typography, and visual accents as needed.

Cinema 4D experience is a perk, not a requirement - AI-assisted workflows can absolutely bridge the gap.

Modern Workflow & AI Integration
Actively use AI tools to enhance speed, ideation, and production value (image-to-video, generative B-roll, captions, experimentation).

Source and integrate stock footage thoughtfully when appropriate.

Stay current with plugins, tools, formats, and evolving post-production workflows.

Technical Excellence
Strong understanding of transcoding, codecs, formats, and delivery specs.

Maintain clean project organization, naming conventions, and scalable workflows.

Ensure every deliverable meets professional audio, color, and export standards.

What Success Looks Like in This Role
A successful Assistant Editor at Peluva is someone who can consistently turn a creative brief into finished work that feels intentional, cinematic, and current - without needing constant oversight.
Success means:
Ownership & Reliability
You manage projects end-to-end with confidence.

Timelines are clean. Files are organized. Versions make sense for anyone on the team at any time.

Stakeholders trust that if it’s yours, it’s handled.

Taste + Pace
You understand what “good” & “great” looks like and how to get there depending on scope.

Smaller social deliverables move quickly without feeling careless.

Larger brand or lifestyle pieces receive the time, attention, and polish they deserve.

Creative Judgment
You know when to follow creative and practical direction and when to elevate it.

You collaborate thoughtfully on bigger moments without overstepping.

You protect the brand’s tone while keeping the work culturally relevant.

Modern Relevance
You understand social media culture - not just formats, but why things work.

You stay aware of trends, rhythms, and visual language without chasing gimmicks. A trend setter.

You experiment, test, and iterate because curiosity drives you whilst respecting timelines.

At six months, success looks like owning projects independently, delivering consistently strong work, and functioning as a trusted editorial partner - not just an executor.

Required Qualifications
Proven experience owning edits end-to-end for brand, lifestyle, or commercial content

Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro

Strong experience across Adobe Creative Suite, especially After Effects

Excellent narrative instincts and editorial restraint

Comfortable working independently in a remote, async environment

Experience with Frame.io and collaborative review workflows

Strong understanding of post-production workflows, codecs, and formats

Confidence working on public-facing brand content

Nice-to-Have (But Not Required)
Cinema 4D experience

The Kind of Editor We Want
