Overview – Remote Full-time

Search It Local is seeking a Senior SEO Strategist to lead and execute high-impact SEO initiatives across a diverse portfolio of Australian businesses. This is a highly paid role suited to a commercially minded strategist who combines technical capability with clear client communication and strong operational discipline.
You will be responsible for developing tailored SEO strategies, delivering onsite audits, monitoring performance, and working closely with internal teams (content and link building) to drive measurable growth in visibility, rankings, and lead generation.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will own SEO delivery across a portfolio of clients—setting strategy, executing technical and onsite improvements, and clearly communicating progress.

Day to day, you’ll:

- Own SEO strategy and prioritisation to drive growth in rankings, visibility, and enquiries

- Lead audits and identify the highest-impact opportunities across technical, content, and authority

- Implement website improvements in WordPress/Elementor to support SEO and conversion outcomes

- Apply schema markup and structured data to improve search visibility and eligibility for rich results

- Use AI tools to speed up content workflows while maintaining editorial and SEO quality standards

- Collaborate with content and link building teams to ensure deliverables align with ranking goals

- Report performance and present progress in client meetings, videos, and email updates

Key responsibilities

You will be accountable for:

- Creating and maintaining client SEO roadmaps with clear priorities, timelines, and outcomes

- Delivering technical and onsite SEO audits covering crawl/indexation, site architecture, internal linking, metadata, and content gaps

- Executing onsite changes directly in WordPress, including Elementor page updates (headings, copy, internal links, layout improvements, and conversion elements)

- Implementing and managing schema (e.g., LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, Review, Article) and validating via recognised testing tools

- Ensuring link building deliverables meet monthly targets, quality standards, and relevance requirements

- Producing and optimising content using AI-assisted workflows (briefs, drafts, editing, QA, originality checks, and tone alignment)

- Monitoring rankings and organic performance, providing regular updates on wins, issues, and next priorities

- Tracking and reporting the impact of onsite work, content output, schema, and link acquisition activity

- Managing client queries and issues efficiently, escalating where required and ensuring timely resolution

Objectives

Support clients in achieving first-page Google rankings for priority search terms (where feasible based on competition and market factors)

- Ensure content output is aligned with SEO intent and designed to drive organic growth

- Ensure link acquisition aligns with quality standards and ranking outcomes

- Maintain consistent, transparent, and professional communication with our team.

- Deliver SEO activity that is cost-effective and demonstrates clear value and ROI

About you

You are a strategist who enjoys problem-solving, takes ownership of outcomes, and communicates clearly with internal teams. You bring structure, curiosity, and a continuous improvement mindset.
You ideally have:

- 2+ years’ experience in an SEO role (agency experience advantageous)
- Strong understanding of onsite SEO, technical fundamentals, and content strategy
- Hands-on experience editing websites in WordPress, including building and updating pages using Elementor
- The ability to implement and validate schema markup (e.g., LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, Review, Article) using appropriate tools or code-based methods

- Confidence producing and refining high-quality content using AI tools, including: outlining, drafting, fact-checking, improving clarity, aligning to search intent, and maintaining a consistent brand voice

- A detail-oriented approach, with the ability to translate data into clear priorities and action plans

- Strong interpersonal skills, including the confidence to ask the right questions and manage stakeholders effectively

- A learning mindset and interest in staying current with SEO updates, best practice, and Google algorithm changes
