--- About the Role ---
We are looking for a scientifically trained, detail-oriented Research Assistant to work with pharmaceutical and biomedical research papers.
This role involves reviewing peer-reviewed research articles, identifying relevant figures and charts, cropping and extracting them accurately, and recording structured metadata in Excel.
This is not basic data entry.
You must be comfortable reading scientific papers and understanding which figures are relevant and which are not.
--- Key Responsibilities ---
• Review pharmaceutical / biomedical research papers (PDFs)
• Identify relevant figures, charts, and images
• Exclude irrelevant figures (e.g., schematics, workflows, tables when not needed)
• Accurately crop figures and charts from PDFs
• Save extracted images using defined naming conventions
• Record metadata in Excel, including:
- paper title
- figure number
- figure type (e.g., PK curve, dose–response, time series)
• Follow detailed SOPs for consistency and accuracy
--- Required Qualifications ---
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (or currently completing) in one of the following:
• Chemistry
• Pharmaceutical Sciences / Pharmaceutics
• Biology
• Biochemistry
• Biomedical Sciences
• Or related life science field
Must-Have Skills:
• Comfortable reading and navigating scientific research papers
• Good English reading comprehension
Proficient with:
• PDFs
• Basic image cropping tools
• Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Ability to follow structured instructions precisely
Highly Preferred (Bonus Qualifications)
• Research experience (academic or industry)
• Experience working with peer-reviewed journals
Experience as:
• Research assistant
• Thesis or dissertation contributor
Familiarity with:
• Pharmacokinetics (PK), dose–response curves, time-series experimental data, scientific line charts
vExperience organizing datasets for research or analysis
