About the Role
We are an established painting company in New Zealand looking for a Philippines-based Quantity Surveyor (QS) / Estimator to join our remote team. You will support our NZ Operation with take-offs, cost estimating, BOQs, variations, and tender preparation for residential and commercial painting projects.
Responsibilities
• Perform painting take-offs from plans
• Prepare accurate BOQs, estimates, and tender submissions
• Cost labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
• Prepare and update variation orders
• Assist with project documentation and client proposals
• Maintain cost databases and supplier pricing
• Collaborate with our NZ team via MS Team / Whatsapp
Qualifications

• BS Civil Engineering, Architecture, or similar
• 2+ years experience in QS or construction estimating
• Experience in NZ/AU company is highly preferred.
• Experience in trading businesses/ building and construction industry, painting, finishing, or fit-out projects is a plus
• Sound understanding of the construction process, materials and construction methods
• Strong ability to read from construction plans and documents
• Ability to visualise a 2D set of plans in three dimensions.
• Excellent measuring and take-off skills
• Experience with take-off software (such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, etc.)
• Ability to produce detailed markups for client submission and team handover
• Takes full ownership to provide an accurate and well-prepared quote
• Uses initiative to think outside the box
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to work as part of the team, but also trusted to work independently
• Excellent English communication
• Stable internet and reliable WFH setup

GUIDE
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following:
o BS in Civil Engineering
o BS in Architecture
o BS in Construction Management / Building Technology
• At least 2–3 years experience in:
o Quantity surveying
o Estimating (preferably painting, construction, interior finishing, or maintenance)
• Strong understanding of construction drawings (plans, elevations, sections)
• Experience in take-offs (manual or using software)
• Excellent English communication skills
Nice to Have
• Experience working with NZ or AU construction standards
• Familiarity with paint systems (Dulux, Resene, Wattyl,)
• Experience working with builders, painting contractors, or QS firms
• Certification:
a. PRC Civil Engineer / Architect (not required but a bonus)
b. AutoCAD training certificates
c. QS short courses (PICE, UAP, CIAP)
Detailed Responsibilities
• Conduct painting take-offs from plans
• Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, and tender submissions
• Price materials, labour, equipment, subcontractors
• Prepare variation orders and updated costing
• Compare quotes from suppliers (paint, equipment, scaffolding)
• Update cost databases (labour rates, material costs)
• Create client proposals and job costing summaries
• Prepare project documentation
• Coordinate with NZ Head of Operation / project manager
