Shopify Web Designer / Builder (Custom Theme, Editorial Product Site)

ob Overview:
We are building a custom Shopify site for a satirical consumer brand. This is an editorial, page-driven ecommerce experience, not a standard “shop all / upsell / popup” store. We need a reliable Shopify web designer who can execute a defined structure, build clean templates, and support ongoing product additions over the next several months. This role is primarily build, layout, and iteration, not branding, copywriting, or strategy.

Platform & Setup:
-Shopify (standard, non-headless)
-Custom theme built on a base Shopify theme
-No custom apps required for launch
-No frameworks or experimental stacks
-Domain, SSL, payments, and basic configuration included

Pages & Templates:
-Intro / landing experience that replaces a traditional homepage
-Product pages with an editorial “case file” style layout
-Collection-style pages with intentional navigation (not “shop all”)
-Manual content / archive pages
-About, FAQ, Contact, Shipping & Returns, Legal pages
-Navigation is intentional and page-based, not catalog-driven.

Product Workload:
-Initial setup of 10 launch products with more planned in the pipeline
-Products added manually (images, copy, pricing provided)
-Product pages may include embedded media sections
This is ongoing work, not a one-time upload task.

Design Direction:
-Clean, restrained, editorial layout
-Emphasis on hierarchy, spacing, clarity, and stillness
-Avoid decorative animation or gimmicks unless specified
-This is not a trendy or busy ecommerce aesthetic

Integrations & Configuration:
-Shopify Payments and PayPal
-Shipping and taxes (basic setup)
-Google Analytics 4
-Meta Pixel
-Email capture (no popups on key intro flows)
-Cookie / GDPR banner
-Reviews app (basic configuration)

What This Project Is NOT:
-No headless Shopify
-No React, Next.js, or frameworks
-No custom backend systems
-No automation pipelines
-No redesigning brand or copy
-No growth hacks, popups, or funnels
-This is a controlled, editorial storefront.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
-Strong Shopify theme customization experience
-Liquid, HTML, and CSS competence
-Experience building custom page templates
-Excellent written and spoken English communication mandatory
-Must have one of the highest English test ratings on OnlineJobs (C1 / Advanced / Native-level)
-Good layout judgment (not just making things look busy)
-Ability to follow clear constraints and scope
-Reliable communication and follow-through

Availability & Time Zone Requirements:
-Must be able to work concurrently with U.S. Eastern Time
-Required overlap at least part of 10:00am–2:00pm EST preferred, 1pm acceptable
-This overlap is mandatory for real-time coordination

Work Style & Timeline:
-Immediate start
-Launch phase followed by ongoing product additions
-Work proceeds in clear phases: templates and layout, initial product setup, QA and launch, ongoing additions
-Revisions are within agreed scope

How to Apply:

-State your availability (hours per week) and exact EST overlap
-State your rate (hourly or fixed)
-Confirm your English test level
-Confirm you are comfortable with an editorial Shopify site with ongoing product additions
