JOB OVERVIEW

We are a B2C e-commerce business operating across Australia and New Zealand, and we are creating a new Commercial Data Analyst role to build how we use data across sales and inventory from the ground up.

This role will work primarily with data from Shopify and our ERP system and eventually include Meta and Google to analyse sales performance, purchasing behaviour, seasonality, and stock movement. The focus is not just on reporting what has happened, but on understanding why it happened, what the data is telling us, and what we should change to achieve better commercial outcomes.

This is a highly autonomous role suited to a strong self-starter. As a small business, we do not operate with heavy oversight — we are looking for someone who can manage themselves day-to-day, proactively identify opportunities, and bring clear, commercially grounded recommendations to the business. A strong understanding of data interpretation, product performance, and customer behaviour is essential.

AI and automation are a core part of this role. The successful candidate will actively use AI tools to improve efficiency, accelerate insight generation, enhance forecasting, and continuously refine reporting and decision-making processes.

We are open to mid-level or senior candidates, and the role will be shaped around the right person. Experience building data structures, tools, and processes from scratch — or significantly improving immature setups — is highly valued.

What Success Looks Like:
• A clear, actionable understanding of why customers buy what they buy, when they buy it, and what triggers must-have versus nice-to-have purchases
• Practical, insight-led improvements to forecasting, inventory planning, and commercial decision-making
• Scalable reporting and analysis frameworks established from scratch
• Proactive, independent ownership of the data function
