About Sidekick

We're hiring a Bookkeeper to support our Accountants with day-to-day bookkeeping across a portfolio of UK clients.
This is a delivery-focused role designed for someone early in their bookkeeping career who wants to build strong fundamentals in a structured practice environment.
This role is fully remote and home-based.
The Role
As a Bookkeeper, you'll be responsible for completing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks and preparing work to a high standard for review by an Accountant.
- Your focus is on accuracy, completeness, and following processes carefully. You will not be responsible for final outputs or full client ownership.
- You'll work closely with an Accountant, receive clear instructions and feedback, and gradually take on more responsibility as your capability and confidence grow.
- You are able to commit to working in this position on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
- You will process day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero, including bank and credit card reconciliations, invoice processing, expense coding, and posting journals.
- You will ensure transactions are coded accurately and that supporting documentation is complete, correctly attached, and easy to review.
- You will follow up with clients when information or clarification is needed, using clear and professional communication. You will also act on routine client requests, such as raising invoices or chasing payments, following defined processes.
- You will prepare bookkeeping work for review, ensuring files are tidy, reconciled, and ready for month-end close.
- You will follow established SOPs and checklists, flag issues or uncertainties early, and correct errors promptly based on feedback.
- You will support VAT preparation and month-end processes by ensuring the underlying bookkeeping is accurate and complete.

Ideal Background (Essential)
We are looking for a bookkeeper who is reliable, organised, and keen to learn.
You must have:
- 2 years' experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role (practice experience preferred but not required)
- Hands-on experience using Xero
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, including debits, credits, reconciliations, and posting journals
- Good attention to detail and willingness to follow processes
- Clear written English and professional communication skills
- Ability to work UK hours reliably
- You are able to commit to working in this position on a full-time basis.
Nice to Have:
- Studying towards CPA or equivalent qualification
- Experience working with UK, US, or Australian clients
- Experience in a practice or shared-services environment
- Exposure to VAT or month-end processes\
Working Hours
UK hours required:** 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM PH time, Monday to Friday (with breaks)
