JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a highly motivated Policy Research Analyst to support in-depth legal and public policy research for a U.S.-based public policy client. This role is ideal for individuals with legal training and a strong understanding of American law, particularly those interested in state-level policy research with a focus on Idaho law.
In this role, you will conduct detailed legal and policy research, analyze legislation and regulatory developments, and produce clear, well-structured research outputs to support policy strategy and informed decision-making.

Remote Tuesday–Saturday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (US Mountain Time)


Job duties and responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive legal and policy research on federal, state, and local issues, with a strong emphasis on Idaho
statutes, regulations, case law, and administrative rules

- Analyze proposed legislation, regulatory changes, and policy initiatives to assess legal, operational, and practical
implications

- Prepare high-quality research memoranda, policy briefs, summaries, and talking points

- Track legislative activity, agency actions, and relevant legal and regulatory developments

- Provide research-backed insights to support public policy strategy and recommendations

- Collaborate with internal teams on time-sensitive policy research requests

- Assist with compliance-related research and analysis as needed

Qualifications

- Legal training required (J.D. preferred; law students, paralegals, or legally trained policy professionals are encouraged
to apply)

- Strong understanding of the U.S. legal system and constitutional principles

- Demonstrated ability or strong interest in researching Idaho state law

- Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills

- Ability to synthesize complex legal and policy information into clear, accessible formats

- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills

- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently

Preferred Experience

- Background in public policy, government affairs, legislative research, or regulatory analysis

- Familiarity with Idaho legislative processes and administrative agencies

- Experience using legal research platforms (preferred but not required)

- Experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or government relations
