We are a civil engineering company working on major road and infrastructure projects in Australia and are seeking a detail-oriented remote assistant (Philippines-based) to complete earthworks quantity takeoffs, with a strong focus on bulk earthworks, cut/fill and road formations. This role suits a civil engineer or experienced QS/estimator who is comfortable working from road design drawings, cross sections, contour plans and 3D civil models.[library]
Responsibilities
• Prepare accurate earthworks and bulk earthmoving quantity takeoffs (cut/fill, embankments, cuttings, subgrade, spoil and borrow) for road and civil projects.[library]
• Work from road alignments, cross sections, long sections, contour surveys and design surfaces to produce volume reports and summaries for pricing and planning.[library]
• Use 12d, Civil 3D or similar 3D civil/CAD software to create or interrogate surfaces, corridors and volume reports.[library]
• Assist with quantities for pavements, drainage channels, culverts, retaining structures and associated road infrastructure.
• Present takeoffs in clear, well-structured Excel spreadsheets with checks, notes and summaries.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related course, or minimum 3 years’ experience in civil earthworks/road quantity takeoff or estimating.
• Proven experience preparing bulk earthworks and cut/fill quantities from survey data, design levels or civil models (roads, highways or similar projects).[library]
• Proficiency in at least one 3D civil design package (12d, Civil 3D or equivalent), including working with corridors, strings and surfaces.[library]
• Strong ability to read and interpret road/civil plans, typical cross sections and drainage details.
• Advanced Excel skills for building structured BOQs and summaries.
• Good written and spoken English and the ability to document assumptions and raise technical queries.
Nice to have
• Experience supporting major road, highway or transport infrastructure projects.[library]
• Familiarity with pavement layer quantities (subgrade, capping, base, subbase) and drainage earthworks.
• Experience with Australian or similar standards and drawing conventions (training will be provided).[library]
Work setup and pay
• Location: Work-from-home, Philippines-based only.[library]
• Engagement: Casual/part-time initially, with potential to increase hours based on performance and workload.
• Schedule: Flexible, but with some overlap with Australian business hours (AEST) for coordination and reviews.
• Pay: Competitive hourly rate in PHP, aligned with experienced Filipino civil quantity takeoff/estimator roles; final rate to be agreed based on experience and software capability.
How to apply
Please send:
• Updated CV/resume highlighting your civil engineering or road/earthworks quantity surveying background.[library]
• Short cover letter describing your experience with road/earthworks cut-and-fill and 3D CAD (12d/Civil 3D or similar).[library]
• 1–2 sample screenshots or redacted files of previous earthworks/road quantity takeoffs showing your spreadsheet structure.[library]
• Your proposed hourly rate in PHP and the software you currently use (12d, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Excel, etc.).
