Creative Book Designer for Guided Memory Journals

We are BuchGlück, a growing German e-commerce business specializing in guided memory journals that help families preserve precious stories and memories. Our bestselling product "Papa, bitte erzähl mir deine Geschichte" (Dad, Please Tell Me Your Story) contains over 250 thoughtfully crafted questions and space for photos, helping families capture irreplaceable moments before it's too late.
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking a talented and creative book designer to join our team for ongoing collaboration. You'll be responsible for designing beautiful, engaging guided journals that people genuinely want to fill out and treasure forever.
Your Responsibilities:

Design aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly guided journals based on our established structure and concepts
Create thoughtful, creative questions in English that encourage storytelling and reflection
Design layouts with appropriate space for photos and written responses
Ensure the design motivates readers to complete the journal and makes the experience enjoyable
Think creatively and proactively contribute ideas to make each journal special
Work collaboratively with us through Slack communication

Requirements:

Strong design skills with experience in book/journal layout design
Excellent English writing skills (native or near-native level)
Creativity and ability to craft engaging, meaningful questions that resonate emotionally
Understanding of user experience – how to make a journal inviting and easy to use
Ability to work independently while staying aligned with our vision
Portfolio showing previous book design or similar work (required)
Proactive communication and ability to meet deadlines

Ideal Candidate:

Has experience designing journals, planners, or memory books
Understands the emotional value of family memories and storytelling
Can balance aesthetics with functionality
Thinks like both a designer AND a writer
Is detail-oriented but also sees the big picture
