JOB OVERVIEW

Raven Tanks Australia is seeking a very experienced Design Engineer to join our team and support the design, analysis and development of our bolted steel tank systems and related components. This is a full time role, Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 5.00 pm AEST.

Key responsibilities
• Carry out structural calculations for tank walls, roofs, ring beams, bases and supporting structures
• Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards including AS2304, AS4100, AS NZS 4600, AS NZS 1170, AS1657 and AS3500
• Develop and review tank components including trusses, platforms, ladders, penetrations and hydraulic connections
• Prepare clear and accurate engineering documentation including load cases, load analysis summaries, design reports, GA drawings and structural calculation packages
• Analyse hydraulic components including flow rates, head pressure, suction lines, inlets, outlets and overflows
• Collaborate with sales, operations and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Review supplier drawings and assess compliance with design requirements
• Support engineering development, design optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills and experience
• Degree in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
• Strong understanding of structural analysis and steel design
• Ability to interpret and apply Australian Standards relevant to tank, hydraulic components and access system design
• Experience preparing clear and understandable engineering reports
• Proficiency with design and analysis software such as SpaceGass, SAP2000, Strand7, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar
• Familiarity with hydraulic design concepts including flow and pressure behaviour
• Ability to produce accurate drawings and technical documentation

Highly desirable
• Experience with bolted panel tanks, water storage systems or modular steel structures
• Exposure to RPEQ workflows or willingness to work under a certifying engineer
• Knowledge of corrosion protection and steel fabrication
• Experience with construction or installation processes
